You should be able to use a hostile flare to spawn the Great Depths Worm.

I just wish you can easily spawn the Great depths worm. Like, imagine some new player thinks it would be funny to use hostile flare in the caves, only to find the great depths worm. That would leave on impact on me. Anyways this just seems like a cool idea IMO.

To be honest, it's kinda stupid that regular flares barely have any uses. It's just the base for hostile flares for most parts, and even then it's used in Winter only for multiplayer.

They are incredibly important and useful in any environment where you can't slip people a screenshot of your map.

I have never once seen people coordinate with compasses, but setting off flares to show people to base/other points of interest happens all the time. Moonlenses are good as a later option but they're just that, an option, and one that's mostly just for setting in a point of interest forever rather than leading people to your current location.

I'd like if it could be summoned without hostile flare if for no other reason than flare summons are random and I'd like a more reliable way of summoning the Greater Depths Worm.

That said, I'll take what I can get. Any player-controlled method of summoning Greater Depths Worm would be welcomed.

iirc it works at low sanity, compass itself starts pointing into a random direction but you see the other player's icon on the map, idk what do you need communication for considering that you can see each other on the map, it requires 1 flint and 1 gold and no science
