Can we take the original player upward attack animation back?

Recommended Posts

Since the update was released, almost every player I know is against it.

Most players are already used to or enjoy the original attack animation. And the new animation is obvious not as good as the original animation technically and objectively. It's worse in terms of tension, coherence and consistency.

Changing it makes no sense in any way, I don't know why replacing something that's already good with something that's clearly worse.

Please give it back.

New animation itself is totally wrong. I can't understand why you stamp your left foot when you chop from left to right. It's unreasonable, you can't gather your strength like that at all.

Well this is what I call "classic Klei moment". Sometimes it's really hard to determine why they do such nonsensical changes. Like, the bunnymen and volt goat loot are nerfed to the ground. Players have to set up farms just to get a sensible amount of those rare loots and it's ??????

This new attack animation is also weird. Like, players genuinely like the old one. Bonking a mob on the head/feet till their death sounds silly but Klei had made it work and everyone liked that. This whole game is built upon silly premises. Why go ruin that?

remember FLOATING HEAD ICONS?!? yea....its one of THOSE random changes that make 0 sense ever like at all, thankfully you can remove that weirdness but still, there was a time you could not unless a mod was used....still dont get why klei dit that

Are there any advantages to the new attack animations compared to the previous ones? I don't think this change is necessary at all

None, that's what. The swipe attack animation *could* be fine if used onto bladed weapons, but that was not the case. If anything, the old animation was very charming; bonking mobs to their death is funny yet logical. Blunt force can be very damaging.

This really is just old vs new crafting tabs, Round Two…

they couldn't keep old menu without spending effort on supporting it but they can keep old anim and attack anim just depends on what you think's better but crafting system allowed you to do some stuff that you previously couldn't e.g. set a recipe as favorite or put it into left part of the screen for crafting it through 1 click instead of 2 potentially with scrolling so that's different

no, they only changed how it looks, you can literally replace player attack anim file with it's version from before they changed the anim for returning the anim without changing game play at all

What was the point of it anyway?

Probably one of Klei's attempts to make the game "more realistic" but again, just why?

In a better world, we could have both the new AND old attack animations. Use the new (FIXED) one onto bladed weapons, while the old one can be used with hambat, bat bat and any other unconventional melee weapons.

The advantages of the new menu were evident even when it was first launched. As the number of Don't Starve items grew, menu changes were necessary, and subsequent updates did prove it. I don't see any improvement in the new attack animation, let alone the necessity. It gives me the feeling that the change is for the sake of change.Unless it's to pave the way for subsequent updates,I can only take a negative attitude

The most frustrating aspect of this update for me is the change in character attack actions. The original movement can clearly feel the transmission of power. However, the new action is like a car wiper, with no sense of power at all.
It's like a perfunctory action. Of course, I don't expect Klei to make any changes back, just like the previous changes to the dropped items and the production column.

I like it. The old one looked like the player was throwing a tantrum and stomping their feet in anger; the new one looks like an actual slash. Some weapons are unfit for the animation like the spear but the old animation didn't mesh well with the spear either.

i like it, though. your character actually bashes targets instead of swinging in their general direction. only change i'd make is give the animation a bit more follow-through  after the swing and give the stomp more of an 'oomph', then it'd be perfect

exactlyyyyyy
I don't get why people just suddenly get all negative about ANY change that wasn't in solo ds (pick up sounds, the attack animation, crafting menu etc)

People are scare of changes and also there are conditions which increase that rejection to changes

In some days most of them will forget about it

if this would have been that way, people would have despised all character changes too, so maybe some thing's wrong with the new anim

Character changes are differents than a new animation or improved crafting menu, they affect the difficulty and, in some characters, the entire gameplay

no, many people still don't like a lot of changes, they just stop talking about that either because of not getting any thing from doing that for multiple weeks or starting using a mod for reverting them

they didn't specify that though

I made it clear that the new animation was obviously of lower quality compared to the old animation.

I'm really satisfaction with dst new torch light animation, new side hit animation, new farm and new crafting ui, they did better.

Attack animation is different, it's just worse.
