So, someone made a turfing dock mod... Can we get the mechanic soon?

Recommended Posts

This exists now, I heard forever ago about something of docks to eventually get turfing, no promises about it but it would be awesome if we could get docks with some kind of outline edges of wood still showing that the turfs are placed on docks.

Docks are ugly on their own when there's too much of them. not being able to turf them is a little upsetting.

Docks are docks, not the mainland. If you want full control over exactly what the world looks like with no compromises that's exactly what mods are for. It doesn't make sense to put things like magic dirtless grass over top of the docks, which have clearly visible supports.

It doesn't really make sense to be able to plant things on docks. If you could replace the turf without changing how the docks function, I think it would be fine. Basically if you add a turf on top of a dock I think it should still be a dock as far as game mechanics are concerned (explodable, can't plant on it, must connect to mainland, etc). The only mechanic I would like to see transfer to the dock would be the speed boost of cobblestones.

I'm not sure how the mod works since it isn't very descriptive..

If you actually look at the turf item, turf.png.62e94ae86b5d16674b5bb77ba5c6afaa.png you can see that dirt is clearly included. It's probably the same amount of dirt you'd put on your roof with the grass if you were making a green roof (which is a real thing people do in the real world). There is no diegetic reason we cannot cover the docks in turf.

That's overthinking it a bit imo xwx

idk. I feel like there is a lot of issues. Namely the Tin Fishin' Bin that was changed to work on Docks. What would happen if you place a Bin then replace the dock with a turf? It can get messy.

I mean, I do want docks to be turfed at least by marble floorings, carpets or some rocky turfs :T It's for art's sake!

They could add another item so we create and remove land but makes 0 sense to turf docks

Not even with man made turfs tho?? Marbles, other wooden flooring, carpets, ruin tiles etc. It's all for decor value and cooler builds.

Is a dock, it would look weird and out of place

Not against being able to add or remove tiles of ground tho. It would be awesome
