Waywarbler
While watching random stream VODs, I saw somebody named "Polarlotus" discover that falling into the void doesn't always put you back on the side closest to you, meaning the old method of clipping out of bounds can still potentially get you across large gaps. As he shows later on, you can absolutely use this to get to the Atrium if you're close enough. This can save on Lazy Explorer uses, but it can also be used to go to areas off-screen that you otherwise wouldn't be able to teleport to. You can even set up some gates on both sides to go back and forth. There are several disadvantages compared to voidwalking however: 1. It's not perfectly consistent. It may take a few tries, falling back onto the side you started on a couple of times, before you suddenly end up across the gap. 2. The range is not infinite. While you can "voidwarp" to areas off-screen, I think you have to be close enough for the ground on the other side to be loaded. 3. At one point, I tried using this to navigate the Atrium, and instead of sending me across a gap, it sent me back to the Florid Postern. I guess if it can't find a valid spot to place you, it'll just place you back at spawn. Other than that, it's pretty neat. Not as controllable or effective as voidwalking, but I can see this being useful in some cases. Brotid01
So, posting that info in the forums where the devs can see it nice. I don't hate void walking, but I don't like it either so I'm just gonna wait and see how this ends what can I say I like drama. I bet the devs wont be able to fix it in time making walk void possible anyways. -Variant
I had folks telling me there were plans to make falling into the abyss closer to drowning. I'd hold my Clockwork Knights before getting used to Void Flinging. This is the same reason why drowning during the CK fight can send you all over the place. FluffyBun
I know how the bug works but I won't leak it. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/159305-crossing-gaps-with-the-void/#findComment-1743362 Share on other sites

It's not as punishing as drowning (at least not yet, if what -Variant said is true). If you're wondering if this was tested with godmode, c_supergodmode() won't let you fall in the void at all, so I had it off for this.
