Reiko24
Art is already complete, cooking mechanics are probably too. Dishes just need effects and stuff. Imagine a real kitchen, Warly teammate sitting in it and managing 10 ovens at the same time, careful not to ruin the dish. And then you get to eat Mac and Cheese or Garlic Bread. I guess it would need Wheat... So the focus of Warly's update would be adding Wheat, dishes, new cookware, etc. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/158926-should-warly-get-gorge-dishes-and-cookware-for-his-skill-tree/ Share on other sites
Ohan
Im not a fan of everything thats fun about cooking being made exclusive to warly. Everyone cooks and eats. Its in the name of the game. I wanna have fun cooking as every character. For example its already bad enough that hot peppers are basically a warly exclusive crop since theyre pretty much useless to everyone else. cooking should be more fun and intricate for everyone and then warly can still be better at it. WenericMember
To be honest Warly's skill tree just needs to be like Winona's - additional buffs that encourage you to not use him as a swap character. He already sports and incredibly unique gameplay loop with his refusal to eat non-crock pot foods and hatred of eating repeated meals, and features an uncontested support role with the powerful seasonings. Expanding his ability to cook things won't help that much, because his issue isn't the reason to use him. It's the fact that he doesn't have any gameplay utility outside of the kitchen. More meals = less repeat meals. Winona got Telebrella, Winbot, etc. Warly would get an oven, grill etc. For the gameplay utility, I think that if someone wants a Warly buff, they either need to be fed by a Warly themselves or be Warly. If more buffs were added that would also be nice. Like movement speed or something. 2 minutes ago, Reiko24 said: More meals = less repeat meals. Imagine if he could also milk volt goats, or have an easier time getting butter because of his knowledge of the ingredients. That would also be nice. chirsg
Should Warly get Gorge dishes and cookware for his skill tree? fixed that for you. Warly outside of singleplayer don't starve is a tragic occurrence within dst. Right now, if your name isn't Warly, your day to day cooking is only to fulfil Hunger/sanity/health, and really, you only need to memorize 5 dishes, if even that. Having said that, I'm super in favor of adding gorge dishes even if they don't have additional effects, because Gorge is functionally an abandoned project. but to have them locked behind Warly is a big no-no. If you've ever watched Gordon Ramsay, you'll see that Gordon actually fraternizes directly with people that either supply his stock and also goes along with hunters and fishermen to see how they get the freshest ingredients, and when with them, you'll see that Gordon is 100% not a stranger to fish and any sort of carcass. I'd use something like that to inspire Warly's skill tree. Having him specifically respect the animal a bit more than other survivors and perhaps things with a low alternative drop such as voltgoat horns have a higher drop rate when slain by him, for example. Maybe even give Warly a tool that can extract milk from charged goats without killing them. I think the rework is one of the more delicate ones since he is another swap character, but I think klei will do right by him. However, locking gorge content behind him would be such a pest. Also, batch cooking stacks of ingredients should not be exclusive to him either. I'll scream if this happens. To be honest, I REALLY, like EXTREMELY want Gorge dishes and cookware in normal DST available to everyone. But idk if Klei would make such a massive change. I hope they would, but that's why I proposed it for Warly. But I would prefer if it wasn't just for Warly. Cooking would become fun, not a mundane necessity. It should be preserved within the main game. mima_
warly should get his own lunch box/food storage. like cheap early game version of polar bin. which also hold maybe his spices or raw ingredients.. (but not as much as the bin spoilage reduction maybe ?) warly is so limited early cus with high hunger value u still need atleast 2-3 dishes until he forget the dish he ate.
