The Deep Fryer & Tallow has been improved, but is still greatly warrant of tweaks.

Fish Tacos/Fish Tempura is now a tier 4 dish. An excellent change.

In the current patch, 1 kg Tallow now yields...
1400 cal in Squash Fries
750 cal in Fish Taco/Fish Tempura
600 cal in Pemmican

While a vast improvement from its first rendition (when Tallow in Fish Taco/Tempura yielded a meager 240 cal), the calorie yield for Tallow is still inconsistent, and I would ask for it to be standardized. Plume Squash doesn't have a cooked form by itself, so I would be forgiving if Tallow still didn't provide the same caloric yield in this instance, but Fish Taco/Tempura & Pemmican not comparing I won't forgive.

.

In addition, Fish Tacos/Fish Tempura now calls for Sleet Wheat Grain. While not bad in a vacuum, too many dishes call for Sleet Wheat Grain: Souffle Pancake, Mixed Berry Pie, Berry Sludge, and now Fish Taco/Tempura too? I believe Nosh Beans should be allowed to shine. You can make bread out of legumes just as you can with grain, so I see no reason not to make the dish call for Nosh Beans than Sleet Wheat Grain besides needing to decrease Nosh Sprouts' minimum temperature tolerance; I always thought it was too high anyway.

Following this side topic, having some of this DLC's dishes involve nosh sprout instead of sleet wheat would, aside from balance, synergize well with the rest of the content. We have an other plant that requires ethanol. Seals that produce ethanol. Floxes that produce a bit of dirt and wood -> ethanol. Nosh sprout works only in low temperature, and that's this DLC's whole shtick. So does sleet wheat you might say. It is true that it is very similar to sleet wheat in many ways with only their irrigation fluid being noteworthy. But given ethanol's sub zero temperatures capabilities, it is far easier to handle on a cold map than water.

It's only real down side on a map that is already cold is that ethanol is far harder to produce than water. Perhaps making the seal route more efficient (either by buffing the seals, the trees, or both) would allow nosh sprouts to be more than a meme food source.

I don't remember how nosh sprout balances against plume squash consumption to calorie-wise. it would be a shame if plume squash would completely overshadow nosh sprout.

Edit: I did check and plume squash does indeed beats nosh sprout by a wide margin as of the current patch. :(

I'd say the trees and seals are already decent. If you use seal ethanol for power, it comes out at ~66W per critter, almost as good as a normal hatch (70W). They also drop 50kg tallow every six cycles which is a HUGE amount of calories.

You can use fertiliser on the trees which gives +80kg / cycle nectar on top of their regular production REGARDLESS if they are under light. Nectar can be used to make plastic and also has a SHC of 4.1, almost the same as water but can go as low as -80°C, making it an excellent coolant.

I think any buffs to them would push them into the overpowered territory. It is the nosh sprouts that need a buff, and a small one at that (make them 15 beans per plant, or reduce their growth period to 17 cycles).

what fertiliser you mean ?

Are you talking about this?

Lol. In the game itself, the Farmer's Touch does not affect Nectar production at all.

This is a feature of this my mod.
And +100% means only a percentage of the percentage.
For example, At low light 13% + these +100% == 26%

Lmaoooo I stand corrected :wilson_facepalm: I didn't think people updated their mods for the beta branch and it just made so much sense that I assumed this was the default functionality.

Ahem.

Well that means ~in the base game~ 8 trees lit only by small lamps can run just one plastic press at full capacity. Hm. Kind of underwhelming considering they consume a boatload of snow. Soooo yeah your mod is the reason why I thought they were decent. They should definitely double their output if we are expected to actually grow them outside of spigot seal ranches.
