Late night rant/analysis of Charlie's character/some dumb story recaps and thoughts

Recommended Posts

I been kinda just thinking about how the cast treats her and the theatre she had created to make her own narrative of given events. We know some of what she says is true and side of it is either dramatized for the sake of drama or to spin her own narrative.

She's a kind of girl that seemed to have been given the preferential treatment, cared for so hard that she had to choose to rebel and get away from it all. Nobody seems to have taken her seriously before that much, as she was that silly adorable goof gal being naive and cheerful in life yet white handed and not feeling that many hardships in life due to that care. Being viewed as dramatic and emotional portrayed through the art and drama theme she has set a stage in the Constant for us to witness.

Frail and what I'd call "white handed" (not having much hardship in life) being overly cared for is what drove her out into venturing to eventually meeting with Maxwell. Her assisting in his acts for a while till Maxwell dove deeper into decoding mysteries of the book that he got himself being into deep trouble and putting Charlie in danger of being near him. Love interest or not they cared for another deeply, but somehow Maxwell's meddling has finally caught to him to catch him and her into the Constant.

We don't know exactly what happens next, but we know that Maxwell likely was hiding from Charlie and her new said form considering that she was the one that from evidence is given died by Maxwell's (or possibly Fuelweaver's) hand to end up corrupt by the entity that tried to corrupt Maxwell. She still holds grudge after putting her into this situation and making her die and end up in a form she is now.

Maxwell gives weird quotes to atrium murals and the ancient key, being likely the reason to that he chose to banish the key and seal atrium from being reached.

She doesn't seem to be mad at him as much after reaching the throne and seeing Wilson taken over it. We can tell that she was right behind Wilson after Maxwell died from said play, taking away the throne from him so he couldn't figure out how to utilize it's power.

Now she's the queen, giving plenty of chances to survive and new ways to find comfort through harsh and punishing challenges she placed as mutated monstrosities like raid bosses or other creatures.

I can tell that she is fine if the show ends as a new always begins and new world recreates with new actors (survivors) coming in to play and entertain her. She brings them costumes, new building appearances, blueprints, cawnival, seasonal events.

Is she aware of how time flows outside of Constant? Probably, considering she has shadows as agents leaking into survivor original world, probably keeping order of things that come out and come in, secrets kept away from public so noone else comes in.

Walter seems to be someone who got queen's grace as a newcomer, lacking knowledge to the world to have at least a fuzzy monster dog to stay with him as a help. She doesn't have priority or the mindset to keep anyone alive, considering noone really stays dead forever there anyway, but I guess as consolation he got Woby, since there's no way to go back for him now even for a boy of his age there's no exceptions.

She hates old statues of Maxwell's hubris showing in the world, setting up her own statues and conjuring up some clockwork ones to hide part of the dirty secret she keeps to be found out. That's where it kinda builds up for Maxwell to realized where the malice and betrayal comes from, as the Atrium was where likely she has died.

Does this explain that Maxwell and Charlie first time appeared in the Constant through the Atrium? Very likely, it's a portal that was where they first time appeared, considering that in singleplayer we had no prior knowledge about it until Charlie unveiled secrets and tampered with some strings to pull survivors into recreating their first encounter with the demon who took Charlie out.

In Maxwell's short we see that happen, where fuelweaver goes for grabs on Charlie while she's looking betrayed at Maxwell probably him running away from the situation. We don't know though if Maxwell did the cleanup to hide away the fossils, end fuelweaver and hide the key or was it corrupt Charlie's doing, but I'd say evidence would point at Maxwell as he had the power to tamper with the world he rebuild and created to play with his new playthings.

Though as his reign doesn't last forever, even if he felt like it was after millions of Wilsons dead one had reached him after he set up the elaborate challenge to reach him. Roll enough roulette balls and one will land on the bet number and the fool finally reached his destination, then fooled, replaced, Charlie swoops in to taser him like he hasn't had enough torture for a billion lifetimes because funny, tases him some more and yeets him into a swirly portal hole back to square one.

Queen got her big fat chair for her big fat caboose, but at least she's a lot kinder if not sometimes just outright cruel with the challenges she given. I don't think she knows what she's doing, but she sure got the imagination for it. We got twiggy trees for some reason, which I guess adds to environment but like why.

After a New Reign she seemed to just been not sure what to do with her life, procrastinating till the jolly bunch one day entered forge, gorge, she swooped in, grabbing the portal power from who knows what and where and what was the point - nobody knows, but survivors sure did have no fun or lots of it slaying so much bacon then playing cooking mama or you're lobotomized into merm then story kinda went nowhere cause shadow creatures we call Klei didn't get enough returns from said events due to questionably generous skin boxes we've been gaining from those. Cool new first skins, but still questionable with marketing. Likely feels like PTSD being so close on edge that Charlie running out of shadow funds to almost ending up crying and dying in her own shadow throne toilet for that she done nothing with said power.

Oh yea, a lot of time later moon chunk falls down. That's totally normal. We got sea now. I dunno if this is Charlie's doing to cause damage to Alter's shell surface that the darkside would have spread or whatever darkside even means at this point on Alter, but Charlie sure does take the opportunity to actually stop eating kebabs while watching the big starve theory and actually does something instead of being pitiful with Maxwell.

Moon happens, archives apparently exist cause moon broke some walls down. Maxwell seems to not be omnipresent at all from what it seems, so much for pretending to be god, he's just a silly magician with god complex and Charlie sure did acknowledge it with her showing to breaking down his statues and work done in the world.

So, she risks her life with the Tragic Torch to capture lunar magics to see Alter for how it actually is as a dormant god above who rivals with shadows likely being the big threat to her new growing empire. War broke out in archives, she got the knowledge of how to restore Atrium gateway with a lot of help from survivors to dealing with...

What the hell is up with Nightmare Werepig? Where did dreadstone even come from as it never existed before?? Were the demons from the depths below, like, trying to stop him from meddling with that rare volatile goop he found? He seems to be one of Constant's pigs, either smarter than the rest or he's some kind of random wildcard that connects to Wilba-- I'm not sure but people had pointed out that the pillars that were made to stop him seems to be related to Maxwell somehow.

I don't think Maxwell was related to this as he seems kinda oblivious at this point what's happening anymore, just pitiful to it for going any deeper towards secrets he likely himself didn't dare to undig. Maxwell likely knew of these things like dreadstone and pure horror, but considering his encounter with the entity trying to invade him he knew he better kept some demons locked away.

Oh yea, y'know the quote of Maxwell mocking fossil skeleton for being assembled wrong? Apparently there are demon communities, or something. Krampuses are a type of demon, Wortox claims to come from the gateway itself. They just hide and cause mischief it seems. Though there's much more scarier and ancient demons like inkblights to likely have been used for reference to make knight, rook and bishop respectively.

This is where the story part ends and makes me rant a little.

Was Charlie just gonna do nothing after her reign established?? She seemed to have been pushed to get survivors to do Gateway stuff but that went kinda nowhere and we know the reasons, she been procrastinating and watching TV for years if this is how the lore really went until she decided "MORE COSTUMES AND GAMES FOR ME PEASANTS!" just kinda setting up the festivals and games because of obligation to make all Chinese calendar creature events and others. Over the almost ten years she made her only few appearances and it's for accidental one by the archive, Maxwell's recruitment, Atrium and kinda just teasing Winona in her little games to have her occupied like a hamster on a wheel to keep on spinning cause don't know what to do with her sister anymore. Winona seems kinda simpleminded enough to keep chasing after Charlie even tho there's no way to reach her directly, but she do be spinning that wheel by metaphor for looking for her constantly to occupy self and her own madness.

The plot has been slowing down, we know more about the whole cast now than ever. Not much secrets to uncover but her actual goals and where will her meddling with ancient godly sources will lead us to. Though something tells me ruins are about to become a lot more volatile and I'm waiting for it.

My biggest complaint is that it really took THIS long for the plot to thicken lmao. I would take some imagery or funny comic art from Klei to show what she actually been up to while procrastinating cause idk there's pigs who see her and there are crow kids that see her enjoying watching the games of theirs people play.

My head canon would be that she basically just been doing a whole lot of nothing and studying newcomers, figuring out what to do with Maxwell, head scratching on what to do with Atrium and some paint job on Constant's forest world to breaking down the old world statues and creations while gaslighting everyone into believing that she's the good one compared to Maxwell within that theatre play.

She been setting up a stage for a while, other times she just doesn't know what to do or go without survivors doing things after she pulls a few strings to reach atrium, kill fuelweaver and figuring out about Alter's existence being actual threat to her.

She isn't evil, nor menacing, but she doesn't want the moon to be in the picture when it'll come to dominance over Constant's rule. And Wagstaff of course is a thing. Wagstaff wanted to take over nightmares for that unimaginable power, but he can't cause he's just a projection in there and will not risk being stranded forever in Constant as he is an anomaly himself there, so the moon is next option. Unsure what reaction would Charlie have to this sudden thing happening that he for some reason exists to do all that but probably can't do any damage to him whatsoever with all the moon stuff he has to protect against shadows and tech to mess with her keeping her influence at bay.

She can't harness power from ancient shadow being from another world cause it had a seizure just at the look for her so she asks Maxwell "get the seizure meds" and he went on "well, pharmacies are closed, or don't even exist in this place so" and story just kinda ends there with no follow up.

But at least frost shark husband exists and I love him.

If someone will have an aneurism from reading this I won't blame you, I just now realized both the plot been jumping off and on rails with my brain thinking about it all over the many updates we got over many years.

To be honest, it's just really sad to see what used to be good storytelling/lore got sidelined with character updates #7293. Like sure, it's nice and all but please, please, please, Klei. Some people are in for the story and it sure sucks to see it going nowhere.

Personally I think they should think about releasing comic book series of dark comedy dramas with the characters given or others related to this. Been enough years to perhaps consider something of sorts.

Good summary why I automatically ignore most of the lore since DST era.

If someone will have an aneurism from reading this I won't blame you, I just now realized both the plot been jumping off and on rails with my brain thinking about it all over the many updates we got over many years.

Isn't she trying to make the mirror whole? Restore the power that Maxwell stole? She's clearly being duped, which is why Max stopped helping it.

I can't say I don't agree with some of the things here, but trying to pick it out would probably make me forget whatever it was I was planning to say.

Mirror is metaphor for some shadow entity and we got little to no idea who that may even be. Shadow watcher is likely what it represents to be now part of her, or that's the shadow form of Charlie depicted in creepy manner to look creepy. I mean what else is shadow watcher anyway? It's just Charlie in her spooky form. But for the power that Maxwell didn't exactly steal anything unless we don't know the details in that case, because the theatre play is just gaslighting the cast than anything.

Whatever it is we don't know, but people assumed it's the torch bearer or something.

We know very little to nothing about shadows, but we sure do have more than enough knowledge about the survivors. Charlie's shadow side plot isn't really given to us on a platter, but it prolly doesn't matter too much - cause the entity wants nightmares to rule the Constant again, she may have been fooled to be fused with it to give them both a body by reviving Charlie.

Mirror could also be a reflection, like a shadow of Charlie or something. Maybe corrupt side of her that looks like her and both pieces being split like in the New Reign trainer where Charlie struggled to choose how she wants to represent herself and it as new possible rulers.

All things considered yea that is likely the case. Both Charlie and her corrupt side fused into one now becoming stable and whole they have more power as one than separate. Shadow entity within her isn't satisfied with just becoming rulers, as it does nothing, but probably bringing back the nightmares and otherworldly horrors into the world is the plan and to spread their influence again.

Though something goes wrong after atrium was finished, their god, or rather just greater entity like Alter didn't want to do anything or the atrium didn't have enough power or something had happened-- whatever the plot goes seems that Charlie just dumps more responsibilities on Maxwell and other survivors. Alter overpowers her, distractions and things to be done by them are needed.

I really don't know anymore.

I'm going to throw in my hat full of copium, and pray that timeline isn't as straightforward and there's something in there to be cooked and looked into.

The players may be hungry, but lore nerds are hungrier

This is a recollection of past events and just kinda analyzing her personality and motives, and some half insane ramblings tho should be as accurate as it goes.
