Worker merm's damage drop

So I'm not sure if this is a big deal or not but it just occurred to me that there's no in game way to learn that merms will deal less damage when they're holding tools without mods and since they put them away before they strike rather than attacking with them you would think they would do full damage. This probably isn't a big issue but figured it was worth mentioning.

Thats really good to know!

But i think shoddy tools arnt worth the skill points anyway. Merms chop fast enough and you can just burn stumps. Kelp is still the meta food source for her so the merm tilling is nice but not super useful for experienced players.

Wurt with amphibian wet armour and healing, king buff skills, armoury and shadow perks is pro wurt meta now.

Worth bringing up that their speed rivals bearger with tools which is very useful if you plan to build alot of homes.

Ah but you need less merm guards now that they have gained so much power. Less merms = less logs required as a result.

Shadow merm resurrection is just the best. And shadow mudslinger is obtained far faster than the lunar counterpart so picking shadow side wurt is a no brainer.

For a long time, I didn’t know this was a thing until I read some random comment on the forums while playing the beta.

Outside of mods unless you realize your merms are taking longer to kill a single spider there’s no way to know.

Also, if I remember well, the console players cannot install mods right? So maybe adding quotes from merms saying something like “HARD TO FIGHT WITH TOOL” or Wurt when she examines a merm with tool saying something like “Mermfolks are bad while fighting with tools glorp…”

Of course, I’m speaking specifically about new players, the rest of us we’re not even bother to bring non-royal merms to fight.

Personally I prefer the lunar side as while you can't get the mudslinger early game lunar merms are easier to amass than shadow merms due to the inconsistent nature of trying to mass kill a horde without them suffering a double death. So as soon as you get access to moon shards you have a infinitely loyal horde of merms who deal aoe damage which shreds hordes. They do both have their advantages though.

As for need less merms overall this is true but I still like making more merms and the tools make collection feel more fun to me though that's probably more of a personal thing I just like setting up feeders, sheds, and armermry throughout my land.

I will say I do wish we could get the lunar mudslinger early game but I do get that they're probably balancing it like how they did with Winona's which is since the lunar version is stronger you get the shadow version earlier.

Yeah this would be a good idea since them dropping to 17 damage is a pretty sharp drop also it would probably be good idea for them to animate them using the weapons as they fight to further clarity. Perhaps even allow us to take the tools out of their hands for when we need their damage instead.

Its Pro to gain 1 Sanity every 10 Seconds and low health? Which Pro would Play like this when you just can eat Food for easy and instant Sanity and Heal? No one :).

 

Well yeah, Klei made a way that Wurt players actually Craft more Craftmerm houses than the 1 for King, but at the same Time nerfed Dmg of the of the normal Craftmerms when they having tools..So now we spend 1000 Ressources more for more Craftmen-houses + more Tool Buildings so they can chop faster? Is it only me who thinks this is crazy? 

and yes i know Merms in general with buffs + king buffs deal more dmg now but

Your right I've seen the light how dare klei make it so we have a actual use for merms besides guards I hate variety or make merms the best at what they do to compensate the effort that goes into them imagine making specialized merms. Heck how dare they even after that give her things to do outside of merms in case you want more variety as well the jerks.

I am curious though what would you have had instead?

Lets make an exampe: Before you had 1 Craftmerm house, and like 20 Merm Guard House

Now you make like 10 Craftmerm + 20 Guard houses to be more efficient.. but to do this you have spend 10x time and Ressources  for the Craftmenhouse + For the Tool-House + to put stuff for Tools in the Toolhouse. How should that be more efficient?

NOW your MORE Merms chop, pickaxe, and dig faster so you get more Ressources BUT you have spend MORE time + Ressources to get to this point?!
So if you had used the Ressources and Time for getting the more houses for stuff that you would grind in the first place you would already have this?! 

Yeah and "give her things to do outside of merms" you mean running every day now to swamp to get a few Mosquitos depending on how much bonds in your world spawned? So you can Craft lil Itchy every 6 days, 1000 Waterballoons and a few Bombs + Heals?  after you again farmed 100 year for ressources for Kingdom, going fishing,and this and that?  

And that in a MULTIPLAYER where everyone is like day 7 ready and DONT want to base in the Swamp because of Mosquito Ponds and stuff. 

Edit: and the tilling is kind of cute but alone you still would need only like a minute :shrug:

It should be noted that there are more than enough merms in the swamp by default before you even start crafting and it takes about 8 to 10 merms to rivial bearger.

You can get enough resources for the kingdom in about 10 days baring lunar island rng. Mosquitos requiring you to live near swamp is a fair complaint though.

See, the thing is, craftsmerm houses are kinda dirt cheap. It won't take much time at all to amass them.

That aside, efficiency isn't everything.

I like that regular merms can do something guards can't now, as now I can just make a few huts early game instead of rushing the king to spam guard huts, since guards used to be better in every way. It's not necessarily the most efficient way to approach the game, but it sure is more fun and varied.

Honestly merms with tools are similar to the new spotlight for me, in a sense that it gives a reason to build something I wouldn't make much of before(if at all).

They not super expensive, but you still need to grind those stuff while you also could do build other stuff with that.. 

So you say its nice that you now got a reason to build them? yes its nice that they have a reason of being, but still it isn't worth because its not efficient or good. So its just again wasted Skillpoints.
