What character stereotypes do you have?

Recommended Posts

Im curious about what stereotypes people have of those who play certain characters! Along with if you have any, who are they often grouped up with? Like characters who tend to stick together no matter who's playing them (either for gameplay purposes or just tend to get along)

Editing this in but:
Skin stereotypes if you want to be really specific?

This is not serious and meant to just be lighthearted observations you've caught or assumptions you have, please don't start arguments nor take any of this seriously
No stereotypes are 100% real, nor do many have a shred in them

most people have the stereotype of Wurt having a about 50 or so merm guards.

chances are that was ither due to creative mode or spending a couple years in game just focused on getting guards.

wurt's not that op in her followers route, as she has an absurde set up cost for said followers.

as for my own.

Wanda: permanently old and uses alarming clock + "whatever that reviving clock's name was again". only ever uses the healing watch to not die from time running out.

I mean wurt herself gets buffed by the merm kings presence, she largely ignores wetnsss, she strongly ignores sanity by holding fish, she gains bonus hunger from veggies and being a vegetarian got a loooooot easier by rwys, ontop of recruiting buffed merm armies. Compare to webber whose spiders are much slower and weaker and dont bother kiting. Not to mention her new skill tree which i havent been paying any attention to but i imagine it just makes an already strong character even stronger. Wurt op please nerf, honestly nerf all the dlc chumps.

Ontopic i dunno i dont play with people, the last server i joined was unbearably laggy at 60ms ping whIch is the best ive ever seen with this game. I will say i joined and there was a winona by the portal who called a vote kick on me for griefing ten seconds later so people suck and so does the T in DST

Stereo type of wx is that he will still eat the gears along with wortox and the fridge.

Wanda mains being op (they died for the 20th time)

Maxwell is op until those 2 terror beaks catch up.

Wilson eating your meatballs after asking for base

Woodie burns base

Willow creating genocide against spiders and bees for more genocide

Wigfride tanks everything. Loves red caps

Old wolfgang wya (wolfgan mains ceething)

Every wanda/wolfgang that I bump into will try to rush the ruins, die to monkeys and quit.

Sometimes Maxwell players will rush a beefalo and kill bee queen without saying a word to anyone. It happened more than once so I count as a stereotype.

If you play as Wormwood in public servers they all expect of you spend the rest of your life working as slave farmer, at worst case scenario they kick you because you don't want to do it (based on real events xD).

As Wolfgnag, Wigfrid and Wanda i expect from them rushing all the bosses before you can even enter the select character menu, most of the times they call themselfs op players but they're the first to ask rollback for the first puny thing goes wrong and they also die few times killing celestial champion aka more rollbacks.

As Wurt you are gonna hear a lot of people calling you cheap d tier character until you show you are a good player then they're gonna start calling op broken and start asking for nerfs (non-related with any comments on this forum) and possibly they are gonna give you tips how to play as her.

As Wortox people might think you're a furry especcially if  you use the minotaur skin.

As willow i expect of you spending all your time killing spiders with fire just to get that juicy soul for your ability.

As Walter you're just gonna live near the base killing birds for no reason at all.

I main webber because spiders are one of my favorite animals

I don't think I need to elaborate much more on my experiences

Ohhh lord, same, fellow Webber main

I'm adding my own input on this thread with Webbers, though not a stereotype that applies to me:

  • People assume Webbers are brand new to the game, like full on assuming they just bought the game
Which can lead to either be reacted to by being treated really nice or really rude
  • Also, most Webber's have a large army and a lot of monster meat on them (way too much experience for this one)
  • Roseate Webbers are rare to see anymore, but often times they're older Webber players who've played the game for a bit

Wolfgang players are either the chads that help other players in like, teaching newbies how to survive or helping in bossfights, or they are disgusting Edgy Rick fanboys that rush ruins day 2, hoard everything and leave it empty for the rest, and tryhard every single thing in the game while saying that other characters don't do as much damage as Wolfgang so they are "trash tier"

Playing as Wilson trying to avoid saying “where’s base”, then end up getting killed looking for base.

This is me in my single player world whenever I play Wilson and forgot where I've /put/ the base stuff. (I also almost always forget the map exists). Probably so this would also be me playing Wilson in multiplayer worlds.

Wilson players are either newbies or extremely experienced veterans, there is no middle-ground. You're either playing him because your friend told you he's the basic character or you're playing him because you want to speedrun Celestial Champion by killing Dragonfly and crafting an iridescent gem instead of waiting until day 11 to do the moonstone event.

Wendy players who aren't riding a beefalo are playing Wendy because Abigail deals with hounds and weak mobs for her. Wendy players who are riding a beefalo are playing Wendy because she's the best at soloing Bee Queen and they know Wendy's the best beefalo character (her damage penalty doesn't affect the beef, but Abigail still gives a damage boost when you're attacking the same target).

Wormwood players love farming crops. This is a stereotype because Wormwood can actually fight pretty well with proper skill tree perks and can also farm enough mushrooms passively to feed a server just as well as he would by actively growing giant crops. (I know because I've played combat Wormwood after setting up mushroom farms for everyone's veggie needs).

If I see a Wigfrid, I assume she's just kind of moderately decent at fighting and isn't looking to do anything ambitious like rushing the ruins or any raid boss before day 11.

Maxwell players are all overconfident (like the character) and most have a good chance to die rushing the ruins.

Wurt players are only playing her because she has the cutest skins.

Warly players know exactly how the kitchen should be built and don't want anyone else doing it. Six crock pots accessible from the same fridge is the only way!

Wolfgang players are speedrunners. All of them. It's what he's for.

Wes players are either people who picked random and got unlucky or trolls.

Oh, well I’m not that bad at the game but I’m certainly not a veteran. I just enjoy playing Wilson because he’s the basic experience.

Honestly people underrated how powerful Webber is his ability to control spiders on a dime and spider nurses making them a dps check but for bosses is incredibly powerful and useful and far more varied in their combat uses than merms. You've got swimming spiders, ranged spiders who can be used for all the things you'd used ranged weapons for. Because of this spiders can help you fight almost every boss in the game in the hands of more skilled players. Because how well they do rely more on the skill of handling them rather than just praying for the best or straight overpowering them with raw dps like merms.

Spiders are abundant throughout the world meaning you should usually have no issues get access to some.

Also for direct comparisons with Wurt he loses no sanity from eatting meat meaning he doesn't need to waste time with preparing less savory meat sources or worry about eatting rotting meat. A spider den is also the only thing he needs to fulfill all his survival needs and he gets insulation against winter passively through his beard

He saves a ton in armor and healing due to his followers being infinitely loyal to the point many Webbers don't bother getting better gear. To add to this spider dens work like infinite use tents meaning a single den and 10 silk can serve as a portable base anywhere but especially when ruins diving. The experience between them is just different Wurt is a civilsation and Webber is pikmin.

As for my stereotype Wolfgang players are rude.

Im gonna be honest, I only seen a willow gifrt once, every other time its webber, wicker, or woodie that does it.

Yeah it's not even any easier to grief as Willow than any other character. Crafting a torch is literally designed to be the easiest thing to do in the game so the fact that Willow starts with a lighter is negligible. Plus she has the best way to stop fires from spreading, making her one of the few characters who can act as a griefing deterrent.

I doubt that stereotype is going away anytime soon though, given that Willow the character does have griefing vibes. Even Klei has made jokes about Willow burning down player bases.

This makes a lot of sense to me because Wigfrid is the character I play as when I want the freedom to jump into a fight at will. Starting with a weapon + armor saves a lot of prep time and allows you to join fights as soon as you're in the server. Wolfgang, Wanda, and Maxwell require a good deal more prep by comparison.

Here are the stereotypes I have, most of which are casual and silly rather than serious.

Wilson - Either you're brand new to the game, or you're a veteran who's trying to flex.
Wes - You're definitely a veteran trying to flex.
Winona - You're new to the game and don't know much about it.
Wendy - You're new to the game and are intimidated by combat.
Willow - You're new to the game and are intimidated by the darkness and sanity mechanics. (it me)
Webber - You're new the game. You might even be new to video games in general.
Wolfgang - You're a combat expert but don't have the patience for teamwork.
WX-78 You will find a way to min-max everything in your favor.
Wigfrid - You like killing monsters and protecting other players.
Woodie - You like chaos.
Wortox - You're really good at the game but you're a jerk to new players
Wickerbottom - You're generous and courteous to your fellow players, but none of us can ever tell what you're doing because you've found an incredibly specific way to play the game that only works for you.
Walter - You have figured out a very specific way of playing that works for you... but you're kind of annoying to me personally.
Maxwell - You understand this game better than I do.
Warly - You understand this game much better than I do (or you're an irl foodie in way over your head)
Wurt - You're not here to make friends. You're here to win.
Wanda - You are a flawless speedrunner who has graced us filthy casual players with your glorious presence.
Wormwood - You're so much better at this game than I am. Holy CRAP you're so much better than I am. And you're also SUPER generous to other players too!? What gives!? What's the catch!?
