Suggestion : a meal that makes merms follow you between shards.

Merms follow Wurt between shards is a constant demand since the beginning of this beta. So I suggest introducing an expensive meal to make merms follow you forever, even between shards and server disconnection, like Wormwood's followers.

For example :

Luxury Salad : Requires Durian, banana, fig and avocado to make. You can give it to your merms to befriend with them forever. The ingredients could encourage Wurt even further to interact with the ocean contents, and give more reason to sail around and explore. Basically a merm-version eight treasure mud pie, but better.

Frankly I would adore anything that lets the merms follow Wurt between shards.

I think this would be very useful.

It is still inconvenient to be surrounded by many merms when building structures or farming.
(Especially when merms are frozen by Ice Flingomatic)

If we have an item like a beefalo bell, we can just leave it on the ground when we want to separate them!

I was also thinking that you can have the option to roll up the banner to dismiss the merms, too!

To add on, if we set the banner down, that could give us a way to let them work in an area without Wurt around, which would be quite nice.

I think the issue is more technical that a balance issue. Probably something to do with mobs having collision and the number of them you can have following you at once.

You enter the shard and suddenly 50 merms spawn on top of you!

Webber can bring his spiders, but they have to be in his inventory and are manually released. Beefalo are automatic, but you can only have one. (Can you carry other players' bells at the same time?)

Maybe some kind of general follower portal could be built to summon followers one at a time across shards. Have followers remember and wait for the player across disconnect and shard change.
