New Exotic nightberry Trees spawning really rarely in cave swamps

I think it would be cool if there was 3 guarinteed (just idea spewing numbers can be changed) nightberry trees per world located in the cave swamps (the cave swamps should be made guarinteed). Maybe even a tentacle pillar that leads to a special island with one on it too. Adds a reason to go there in the caves and gives it an identity, and does not outclass the treasure chests since they wont be movable. It will be an exciting and special find.

It might spice up ruins runs, or be a thing you pass by in the caves to help you in the short term. Also they fit there and will look really cool. Tackling both the ocean and caves with one feature.

 

Edit For new hotfix: The hotfix made the trees drop a seed to move them when they are chopped down. So, these cave trees will be "Ancient Nightberry Trees" that wont drop a seed when chopped, but chopping them makes them regrow in a random location in the cave swamp. This is so they can not be relocated.

I agree with this idea. I think the trees should spawn naturally in the world, but in hand tailored and special locations so theyre a genuine boon on world gen.

I had initially though to suggest some kind of island set piece for them, but the caves would be a great place for the new nightvision tree

This is reductive to the idea. Asking for the trees to be in a small setpiece that you could find somewhere doesn't mean its removed from the ocean.

I don't think it should be guaranteed but I'd definitely be down for it to be added to the set piece pool for both the cave and surface swamps.

It doesnt undermine the ocean, you are not looking at this right. You still have to go out your way into the cave swamps.

The ocean is the only way to relocate them on the surface, and to get more than 3. Few bother to get even glowberries from the caves.

 

If anything, very few being in the caves gives players a taste and makes them crave more.

I know these trees are for the treasure, but they look like they were made for other biomes. Treasure can remain the only way to re-plant these trees, or to get more. Still wont undermine the treasure.

Only 1-3 Trees, It takes a very long time to grow from seeds obtained from the sea.

As long as there is fair regulation, some content upfront is good.

That... We should expectations to implement in another major update.

Klei must has a plan... Big nice plan.

I really like this suggestion! Since tentacle pillars are no longer exclusive to cave swamps, this place has almost become a degraded version of surface swamps, leaving no reason to come to this biome. If the Nightberry Tree is added here, I believe the player's curiosity for exploration will greatly increase.
I also really want Klei to bring back the lava caves. Considering their workload, I don't expect it to be as massive as Ruins, but it can serve as a variant of the Spider Stalagmite Plains, just like the Lunar Grotto, even if there is only one biome.

Seems like this year, Klei is taking a step back on working on new things and is focusing on their endless list, so it is possible we get cave stuff too.

That's what I thought, it seems that this tree and the glowberry tree are kind of discarded from these biomes, to the point where it's natural to ask ourselves: shouldn't they be there in these places? I don't know if this is encouraging or discouraging, does it mean that we really won't see a lava cave? Or the opposite?

I didn't even know these concepts existed, I thought it was just an idea that was very popular with players, almost a consensus, good to know.

Tbf caved are pretty boring too, they just happen to have powerful items that make it worth exploring. But yeah ocean is worse. 

They could add a small swamp island so where in the ocean though. Maybe one that connects to the caves.
