Suspicious seed spawn rates

Recommended Posts

The suspicious seed spawn rates are fine as is. I’m on day 87, I’ve opened five chests and found three suspicious seeds. One night vision tree and two gem trees. The way some people are talking about having to wait until day 200 I thought I would open a few dozen chests before I found even one seed.

I'm well over day 2,000 and only found 1 seed in my first 12 chests. RNG is RNG, and regardless of the drop rate, you can have streaks of good or back luck. Opening 5 chests and getting 3 seeds early in a run isn't an endorsement of the drop rate, it just happens to be what you got.

Regardless of what the drop rate is and how lucky you are, the critiques are fair about not wanting to wait until day 200+ for optimal treasure hunting. Seems a perfectly reasonable suggestion not to time gate optimal treasure hunting.

For reference, the chance scales with the day count, and is not a flat metric. It starts at .3% at day 1, increases to ~30% at day 100, and caps out at 60% at day 200.

Personally I feel the initial chance should be higher, just because it feels bad treasure hunting for them early on and basically having no chance to get them, it already is slow, and the trees have time to grow as is, but otherwise I think the seeds themselves are alright.

I agree. I dont think their rariety should punish people that like to sail early on their worlds, when the plants already take a long time to grow and mature.
