Suggestion: remove sproutrocks from being insta-grown by applied silviculture/any method in general

Recommended Posts

I think sproutrocks meant to be something you amass gems from over time, especially since said gems can be ruins ones, which are particularly valuable. While I do like this tree a lot, the balance is completely shattered with Wicker’s applied silviculture. Just one tree can pretty realistically supply you with a good amount of gems in exchange for papyrus and living logs and one bookcase, and it only gets stronger the more you have.

I personally feel the interaction should just be made so you cannot force sproutrocks to instantly grow, regardless of the source. I do like the idea of passively building up a gem farm and being greatly rewarded for it, but it is a bit silly you can skip that via easily growing 1-a few trees with the book.

I don't think 1 character's unique interaction with a new plant that you have to go sailing for to find and plant completely shatters any balance. Seems pretty kneejerk.

The problem here is what you get from it once you do that setup process. Most things you get with some setup typically reward you with a small but abundant amount of some decent resources (EX: Grass/twigs from Grass tuft/sapling farms with applied silviculture, charged glass from a moonstorm farm with end is nigh, etc). The problem here is this allows you to rapidly amass some of the most sought after resources in the game, the ruins gems. While you could technically do it prior with a varg farm, it was extremely slow and was usually not worthwhile for mass farming the ruins gems. Wicker/Maxwell, once the setup is complete, can easily slingshot into a large supply of these gems with only a few minutes of work, and I feel like that isn't very healthy when the gems can range from free light to being able to duplicate literally any item in the game that uses more than/produces multiple of an item in a recipe.

Again, I don't think the trees themselves are a problem. It seems like they expect you to farm a good chunk of these and you would still get good rates from even a few trees, and you should be rewarded for that! It's the fact that Wicker/Max can abuse the system an immense amount to grind hundreds in a few minutes with only a small handful of them and I do not think that was the intention.

A decent compromise would be to not have the silvaculture grown fruits not grow ruins gems.

Do you mean, if you use the book on the tree, it would just pop out red blue and purple gems?

Just speaking from personal experience I tried to unlock wurt as quick as possible and was still horrible at the game when I got her

If so, I don't mind that. I just think we shouldn't prevent a character's resource generating book from generating resources. Id be willing to give up ruins gems if i could just use my books to farm the other ones.

Also this. Wurt was my first character woven and I'm still bad at the game after hundreds of hours.

Also also, i think you quoted the wrong person lol

Characters that can set up farm **** don't need to be punished because new content is released. This and the idea to nerf merms retroactively because of the skilltree are garbage tier.

No need to make it personal.
