I personally want Walani because it would encourage right off the bat ocean exploration, yes the surfboard will bee useless late game, but it will give new players the opportunity to explore the ocean without having to make a think tank then make a boat then make a campfire for the boat etc.

none of the above tbh, none of them have  unique/interesting or useful perks to bring to together. people only want walani and woodlegs for the single player boat. but honestly they'd be SO BORING. you'd have to rework the character to the point you might as well make a brand new one instead

Not Wheeler

Until DST gets a Boat I can continuously pick up and reuse and carry around with me in my inventory, There will always be room for Walani in DST.

Wurt May get a skill tree that lets her swim short distances (with stamina bar depletion like Lego Minecraft) but there’s still room for Walani’s Redeployable surfboard.

Woodlegs.. I don’t know anything about him but I can pretty much guarantee he doesn’t have a Redeployable boat he Carrie’s around in his pocket.

Wilba I would want in DST for the Wurt vs Wilba Lore.

Wheeler I’d want for no other reason but the Navigadget, since Wortox & Wigfrid already covers the “Dodge”

Imagine if walani was the only character with access to the SW Boatshoes everyone wants and no one else could use surf boards

Also mike you always make the strangest references to support your points lol

Wheeler has been replaced with walter. Both wortox and wanda (also wigfrid sorta) have a strong dodge mechanic so shes not even special there. So no to her.

Wonkey is pretty much wilbur. So no to him.

Wagstaff does have that really cool blurry vision downside and tbh i dont think he would clash that much with winona there are so many different tech ideas you could do with him.... Its a shame hes an npc so its not gonna happen.

Woodie has been expanded enough that wilba has no real place. Especially since we have a "kingdom" builder with wurt.

This leaves just woodlegs and walani. I think both would be good in DST

You could remake woodlegs sea legs as a deployable pancake boat that is between grass boat and normal boat in size and comes with 3 cannons in equal triangle with mast and wheel in centre. Woodlegs could craft cheaper cannonballs and discover treasure as per normal.

Walani could be special like GreenBowers says by havin the only shipwreck version of sailing with her surfboard. I would also give her a unique life jacket craft as well that makes her not drop anything or lose hp like wurt if she drowns. Could also make Walani better at fishing and give her a buff to eating fish/sea food with a negative sanity drain/reduced hunger gain with everything else.

woodlegs.

The only problem is DST is a game where your mostly on land, so the sanity loss is pretty tough

Well it also would be a boon on the lunar island which would make it the perfect base location for woodlegs. Being able to rapidly discover seas treasures is a pretty good upside to make it worth it.

Could give woodlegs like 300 sanity so he has a good sanity "reserve" for land exploration?

ALL of them! (though if they are added I probably still won't change from playing Maxwell and Wilson mostly) I just love players having all options from the single player game avaible.

Well I don't. I think Woodlegs being reworked to work with dst boats would be much cooler.

Walani being the only character to access shipwrecked boats would both be a nice gimmick and would hopefully alleviate everyone else asking to add SW Boats to dst. If she's the only person that could use them, then even better.

Woodlegs, I would want him to just have more stuff he can put on DST boats, like adding that cargo-storage from the ancient boats to his own boat, maybe making bigger boats, or maybe boats you can physically enter the lower decks like a Hamlet house. Him living on the sea seems like a fun playstyle

For me I just wish they would fully flesh out Wonkey, maybe even give him a bit of a quest so you could become king monkey again to permanently make your character switch. Do something for the queen and she makes you a monkey king or prince or something that gives you the ability to craft huts and command monkeys.

As much as I'd hate to admit it I feel like Woodlegs' playstyle wise would be the best candidate you could easily turn his boat into a unique raft, let him be able to find sunken chest easier with "Pirate's intuition" and make his sanity drain slowly increase the drainage over time for how long it's been since he's been out in deep ocean on a boat.

But I feel like Walani would be a fun character to bring back to dst, she has a pretty fun personality with interesting quotes,(especially her being completely unhinged in both combat and darkness) I feel like if they ever had to rework her it wouldn't be "too difficult", she has a pretty relaxed playstyle outside of just the surfboard, you could make her a easy sanity management character for newer players to help keep their team sane as well as early game Ocean exploration and gathering, able to withstand the cruel blue lagoon longer than others,

heck if you wanted to give her a downside so badly, you could make a "Laze meter" or something where if she does too much work you'd have to give yourself some time to "mellow out for a bit" similar to Wolfgang's Might meter. (Might make a post about a Walani concept later)

other then that, I just feel like she'd also just also fit in with the dst cast aesthetic wise, since most of the og cast are just normal everyday people, so it'd be a bit jarring to just have this Cartoon pirate with two peg legs in the group (Yes Walani is also stereotypical surfer, but I think there's more that can be done with that concept)

I feel like a cinematic lore video featuring woodlegs would go really hard though.

We already saw what they could do with Warly, now I'm curious if they could completely shake up what we think about funny crazy pirate guy.

Wagstaff because builder characters are cool when they still have an interesting personality (looking at you Winona), scientists are really awesome to play as when they are successful (looking at you Wilson) and the nearsighted downside is a fun twist. With him being an NPC and Winona getting most of his upsides in her skill tree, it's highly unlikely at this point, but I do still hope that they add him and just give him and Winona crazy good synergy together somehow

As much as I love Woodlegs, I can't deny, Walani is just cool.

Walani skins would go so hard though, can you imagine?
