Wigfrid skill tree evaluation, needs to be optimized for a better gaming experience

Recommended Posts

In terms of gaming experience, this skill tree is not perfect

1 Battle songs
This skill tree did not improve the original battle song, and there were no other updates either.
Fireproof Falsetto not improved, very useless.
Rude Interlude and Startling Soliloquy change to cooling time but it takes a long time. They are not commonly used but have a long cooling time, and still requires some inspiration to use it.
In daily battles, battle songs do not play a significant role.
Warrior’s Reprise can only benefit others and cannot be used by Wigfrid herself.
Suggestion: Adjust the effect of the battle songs, shorten the cooldown time. Wigfrid can use the Warrior’s Reprise to resurrect.

2 Inspiration
Although skill trees can accelerate inspiration acquisition, the ways in which inspiration is used are still too few, and unable to retain inspiration, being in a passive position in some sudden and small-scale battles.
There is almost no correlation between inspiration and skill tree skills, especially with new equipment and skills, and beefalo training.
Suggestion: Some inspiration can be retained after the battle ends.

3 Lightning Spear
Before upgrading, Lightning Spear cannot restore durability, and a durability of 0 will disappear directly.
After upgrading, the durability recovery of Lightning Spear is slow, and the cooldown time of the skill limits its durability recovery.
The Lightning Spear is not as impressive as imagined. On the one hand, it cannot be used excessively due to durability issues, and on the other hand, its damage is not outstanding and can be replaced by other weapons. The lightning spear's outstanding skills in combat also have a cooldown time and cannot be used frequently. When there is no Spear skill, it needs to be forced to dodge, which can be embarrassing
The upgraded Lightning Spear is not as impressive in the later stages of the game, with less damage than planar weapons, and the boss attacks more frequently. However, the cooldown time of the skill is not shortened compared to before the upgrade
Suggestion: Lightning Spear durability can be repaired using materials, shorten the cooldown time of skills or remove the cooldown time of switching spear skills, especially for the upgraded spear.

4 Shield
The shield does not have planar damage and has no further effect in the later stages of the game. It should have 20 planar damage. If the status quo is maintained, this shield can only be a gradually phased out weapon.

5 Commander's Helm
The new helmet requires azure feathers, which is a difficult material to obtain in the first 20 days.
The new helmet only has 80% defense and its durability recovery effect is not strong.
Although equipped with 8 planar defense and preventing knockback.
But compared to other helmets such as the Dreadstone Helm, there are no more advantages.
Suggestion: Change the feather formula to Bunny Puff, or increase defense by 85% and make durability recovery faster.

6 Beefalo training
In terms of gameplay, the skills and Wigfrid are very mismatched.
Wigfrid has higher attack and defense.
Beefalo cannot obtain the Battle Song effect.
Wigfrid cannot gain more combat benefits from cows.
Before the skill tree, I believe that in a team, over 90% Wigfrid would not use Beefalo to fight.
And in the early stages of the game, there will also be no need to train Beefalo.
Suggestion: Wigfrid can use weapons to attack while riding a Beefalo.
Alternatively, remove Beefalo skill, increase Inspiration Skill, during the cooldown time of Lightning Spear and Shield, inspiration can be consumed to use skills

7 Shadow and Lunar
Enlightened Lullaby and Dark Lament, it's really terrible.
5% damage bonus means a reward of 1 attack every 20 attacks,
If a team has 5 people, they all have 68 damage,
Reward 68 damage every 2 seconds or every 1360 damage ,
For a boss with 20000 HP, it can only reduce combat time by less than 2 seconds.
Suggestion: Make this two battle songs only work for Wigfrid herself and increase damage by up to 10% based on inspiration.

Not seeing another Wigfrid skill tree thread (every keeps posting about Willow) so I'll post my thoughts here.

  1. I really like the concept of the battle shield, but I think it should be changed a bit. I don't like how it has cool down when you equip it. This means I will likely have to dodge in battle just to be able to block another attack? This seems silly. And this only get's me an extra 10 damage for the next attack (Battle Enhancement II). I don't think I would ever use this. It's better to just dodge and keep hitting with whatever weapon you're using. Suggestion for this:
    • Remove the cooldown when equipping the shield. I'm assuming this was added so that you can't alternate between two shields (which is fair). A solution could be to have all the shields in your inventory share the same cooldown timer (after a shield has been used). Then you could use it to immediately block as second attack in a battle. If done so successfully your next hit would be rewarded with 10+ damage. Then I would have to wait for the usage cooldown before doing that again.
  2. Maybe it's just me but the rider section of the skill tree seems like an odd fit for Wigfrid. Are Wigfrid players more likely to use Beefalo (I honestly don't know)? If that's true then maybe it makes sense. I personally just don't ever see myself using them. Assuming some refinement is made to the battle shield I would usually unlock all of those (13 skills). Unlocking mystic resilience is a given imo. Which leave 1 skill left (which I would probably use on the affinity or one of the headliner skills). This may just be a personal thing tho as I rarely tame beefalo, but I'd never use these. Maybe others would choose it more frequently instead of the shield or mystic resilience.
    • Replacement suggestion? I was surprised to see that she didn't get a skill that did something like "gain inspiration faster and loose it slower." To me this was a no brainer skill.
    • If you want to keep with the Beefalo skills than I would suggest just cutting the "Noble Mount II". Riding the beefalo for 8 min already seems like a decent amount of time and getting off/on isn't that big of a hassle. It also uses one less skill to get to the Battle Saddle which is the more important point for the removal. Also not sure if this is possible or not, but the Battle Saddle should be able to be used by other characters.
  3. The skill that says, battle stingers will no longer consume inspiration, but have a cool down is pointless. The Warrior's Reprise has a 5 min cooldown (from what I'm told). It would be better for me to just use it, quickly raise my inspiration again (which should only take 10-20 seconds) then use it again if needed. This seems more like a downside than a perk. It would make more sense if the stingers were normally "consumed" after usage, but they're not soooo, I'm not sure why anyone would use this skill. I guess the advantage would be that I can use it and still keep all 3 of my songs active? But again, I could just quickly raise my inspiration to activate the 2nd/3rd one after using the Warrior's Reprise if needed.
    • Or Maybe this should instead be the "gain inspiration faster and loose it slower" skill.
  4. I love the lightning spear and commander's helm. I don't think these need any changes. Great job with these!
  5. I like the battle call canister skill. I'm not sure I'd personally ever use it, but I think it's a good skill to add.

Semi-related, but we should be able to view character skill tree on the "item collection" screen

Just to add, I think the Valkyrie's taming of creatures is in line with the setting, but can it not be a beefalo. Other characters of the beefalo can also be tamed. What we need is to increase the intensity and fun of the game. If Valkyrie can tame some creatures that others cannot tame, at least we can ensure fun. As for strength, it can be strengthened in the future.

Loving the beefalo perks but it can be optimized.

Like you said make her atack on beefalo, maybe share the damage we dont really need the tankiness of the beef, also a quick dismount could be useful like a charge into battle then dismount and have your beefalo help you on his own while wigfrid keeps the aggro of everything in a radius.

About the weapons and helmets they seem very situacional i think she should not be tied to her weapons/helmet exclusively but its to late to change that probably. Its really hard to balance around that since you cant have the best weapons armor in your kit but if they are to weak then getting the skill is kinda pointless.

Three weapons'perk in arsenal part should be apart like Woodie's skill tree. If u can't have Wigfrid use both spear and shield at the same time ,putting them on the same line would be too cutting.

Honestly, ever since Wigfrid's rework, i felt the inspiration mechanic was just so... weirdly implemented.

You need inspiration to activate the songs, but having them active doesn't use inspiration at all. So in truth, aside from battle stingers, we aren't really consuming inspiration at all, but rather just having it as a threshold.

And when it comes to using it as a threshold, the implementation feels weird in a way that's almost paradoxal: The inspiration gain is very slow when fighting normal mobs, to the point where you need to fight many of them in order to even be able to use a song... however, battles against normal mobs usually end so quickly that it's usually over before you can activate the song. Meanwhile, bosses are the only mobs who you fight for a longer period of time, enough time that you'd actually be able to build up your inspiration... but then against bosses you gain inspiration so quickly that it takes merely 5 seconds to use the songs.

Not only does this mean that the use of songs is only viable on bosses, but also, that bosses give you inspiration so quickly and easily that the inspiration meter itself essentially doesn't matter. In just a few seconds you have the inspiration at 80+, and then you can freely use the songs for the rest of the fight, and the need to "maintain" the meter never comes into play since it never goes down while you're fighting.

I think being able to retain inspiration post fight is what makes the most sense given the way the songs require it to function. But at the same time, since inspiration is never really consumed, being able to retain it would also essentially make songs available at all times. (Which probably doesn't matter that much anyway, since their effects only really happen while fighting)

What i mean with this is that i like the suggestion, but i don't know if it would work unless there is a change to the inspiration mechanic as a whole (which i would personally love to see). As in, if inspiration was actually drained while the songs are in use, it would actually give us a reason to maintain the meter in the first place, in which case it would make sense to be able to retain it after a battle.

Where is there no naval skills? Vikings are famous for their Longboats and their sailing enjoyment.

Plus Beffalo gaming dont suit Wigfrid playstyle. Like, at all. All of her combat skills simply aint working with beffalo, so why bother investing in beffalo tree? Just replace it with seafaring perks. I dont really have that much of ideas to suggest, but I dont see situations where Wigfrid players will choose Beffalo gaming over regular fighting, but sea based perks might come in handy.

i think i'm okay with the commander's helm not being on the same tier as Dreadstone, since you quite literally just need to kill a minimum of 3 birds in winter (very easy with the lightning spear special) and a beefalo. technically this can be done even before the first winter with enough tumbleweed luck, but it's not really a steep requirement once winter rolls around.

meanwhile Dreadstone Armor requires you to beat what's essentially a post-ruins raid boss to get it.. a beefalo is not nearly as hard to kill as the Nightmare Werepig.

supplement

The correlation of the Wigfrid skill tree is poor,  requiring a skill association.

I designed a new branch of inspiration.

1. After the battle, some inspiration will be retained.

2.1 The skill of Lightning Spear can consume inspiration and be used during cooldown

2.2 The skill of shield can consume inspiration and be used during cooldown

2.3 Riding a beefalo ,and 100 inspiration, able to consume inspiration and use weapons to attack until inspiration=0, then increasing inspiration

Such skills can provide inspiration with more applications and offer more combat options

I agree.

The lack of reinforcement in battle songs is a problem, some of them really doesn't have much effect.

For lightning spear, the materials are too expensive to obtain and easy to break, which makes it useless facing the boss.

And beefalo skills are very strange, because when riding a cow, she cannot gain her own bonus advantage.
