I really hope the "From Beyond" arc doesn't end without a new biome/world gen.

So I got a really lucky generation, and my underground cavern spawned near a blue mushroom biome. Knowing vaguely how that might mean it was near a lunar grotto, I went exploring and wow.

This was a completely different experience to anything I had found in the game previously. It was full of set pieces, unique mobs, and really cool world design, the crystallized pools, ancient statues and enemy designs.

I can't wait to eventually properly experience Pearl's island, Waterlogged biome, Moon Quay, the ruins and the Atrium and more. New biomes and set pieces are by far the most interesting part of new updates to me.

This is the main reason DST has managed to hold my interest more than any other survival game, the amount of unique content ranging from random setpieces to preset structures to unique biomes. As such, rather than Planar Damage, brightshades or skill trees, I feel like the bigger potential issue arising from this arc is the lack of permanent new areas.

From what i've seen the rifts are mechanically interesting, but I feel like they're currently lacking a strong identity.

Like... compare the two screenshots of the lunar grotto and lunar rifts that I stole off the internet.

I hope that biomes are added somehow that are inaccessible unless a rift is active- like a reverse ancient key. They could even be the same biome that appears different depending on which types of rifts are currently active. Just something to make the rifts feel... a bit less of a purely gameplay mechanic.

If that is impossible, the I at least hope the rift itself does more than spawn pure brilliance & grazers (with the shadow equivalents), in corrupting existing structures rather than outright destroying them, because currently it just seems kind of... barren.

I would go as far as to say that we need a pretty sizeable makeover for the worldgen, it's super predictable as of right now with most biome positions when you know which biomes connect to which.

I'd be more interested if I saw a world that didn't have a cave entrance at the blue mushtree biome because I've never seen that happen

I always get muddy or mixed mush.

I guess so, but I usually only open one or two nearby cave entrances, which for me have always led to the sunken forest biome.
