Please increase the attack speed

I started playing again and it seems that the attack speed of characters have been changed to a fixed, yet reduced speed?

If so, is it possible to have increased a little bit (as a benchmark, I used to be able to regularly attack a goat that's waking up 5 times but now I can only really get 4 hits).

I have no clue when it exactly changed, but I do believe it was this year at least.

I've only noticed this now because I started a new world recently and going for a more combat-heavy playthrough than the on-and-off megabasing that I was doing this whole year.

I hope it gets a look at cause combat is much slower than before and less fun now :(

This was changed along with not being able to cancel pan flutes and books at that update with connection changes. I don't think they'll ever increase attack speed seeing there's a comment in tunning.lua "prevents players" on wilson_attack_period. This isn't the first time they reduce the speed to limit animation cancelling.

I guess I'll just resort to spamming anim canceling with item equips to increase my attack speed, which sucks cause it's something I didn't want to incorporate into my gameplay since the old attack speed satisfied my needs, even if I'm used to the new reduced panflute/book reading anim speeds.

Klei should try revert it if it is just going to encourage people to do what they were trying to prevent.

They should definitely revert it. attack animation cancelling isn't as skill based as one may think....

It's impressive, sure, and you can grind it out... But play on servers long enough and you'll see I'm correct...

 

I'm a definite advocate for reverting attack speed to it's old values. I'd almost warrant the issue as a bug.

Exactly this. I've only ever considered using animation cancelling since the attack speed has become painfully slow.

So you're reading "prevents players" as "prevents players from abusing animation cancelling?" It's a rather vague comment, I'm not sure I buy that interpretation but if you have other information on the history of this tuning value please share.

Another agree on increasing the attack speed. I also feel like it'd make sense for them to increase the domesticated Beefalo attack speed to the speed that animation canceling enables.

Killing mactusk on a beefalo is sooo annoying so it would be nice.
