Fixing walter slingshot: Make ammo drop on ground on mobs hit

It occured to me in a dream, after having nightmares of all those walters in my pubs eating all the gold and marble.

 

An elegant solution: What if a skill tree would make the pebbles simply... drop from monsters hit

 

This would make walters in pubs spend time picking up each marble to reuse it instead of gobbling all the gold

This would make walter a truly ranged character, where you invest a lot of time to kill mobs if you lack the skill to kite, would make it really fun for new players, and be in line with walters "keep your distance" theme

I don't think this idea is good, I think the solution is to make Walter craft more rounds per craft. Doing this would just cause lag on servers hosted by less capable computers which would really suck.

Gold and marble aren't particularly hard to get en masse anyway, especially since Walter can essentially dupe gold with Pig king anyway, and marble isn't used in too many recipes so using that up wouldn't be too bad of an issue in a pub either. My issue is honestly with cursed rounds.... I think his skill tree should just have a perk that lets him be more efficient with his crafting ingredients to squeeze out 5 more pellets per craft, which would mean that you get a stack in 4 crafts rather than 6.

Given that you need multiple stacks of ammo to take down a boss, I can see this making an enormous unsightly mess. Boss drops are impossible to find in the seas of gold, and having to pick each shot back up individually would be an awful experience. I guess it gives a new use for the Lazy Forager, but without it cleaning up the place is not going to be tedious. It'll be even worse for bosses like Deerclops or Klaus phase 2 where you kind of move away from it as you fight it, creating this giant line of ammo from you to the start of the fight. Or a boss that moves around a lot and as such your ammo is just everywhere.

 

I could kind of see it happening on a percentage, like if you use 5 stacks of ammo to kill a boss you'll probably get one stack back. But it still has the problem of cluttering the place and taking forever to pick up.

Just make him craft more pellets

If they do add it, woby could have a special ability to collect the pellets and give them to walter.

Maybe as a skill tree thing. I personally would like Woby to stay still for me in combat in case I need things from her.
