I feel that increasing the damage punches do is a significant change to a trivial mechanic. 

Normal damage multiplier characters would be able to "swat" away 100 hp mobs like regular spiders, bees, and mosquitos in 5 hits.

Weaker characters like Wendy and wes would be hitting for only 15 damage making their their punches pretty insignificant

Wigfrid would be dealing 25 damage and wolfgang will be hitting for 40 making his punches possibly "viable"

Especially for those with Victorian and triumphant skins 

But actually weapons and tools should always be better which is why one of my gripes is that certain tools will be doing less damage, which makes sense for things like the bugnet but not for others like the walking cane or hammer.

Another issue would be increasing the damage of those tools without stepping on the toes of actual weapons.

I personally think that as long as the damage stays within a certain damage threshold for mobs they can be allowed "odd" or "awkward" damage values if other damage options are provided.

Such as damage over time or burst damage from meeting certain requirements to make up the extra damage.

I'm kinda hoping for an overall damage increase across the board for everything by small margins while these new mechanics add the rest of the bulk.

I think the punch damage boost would only really make sense for Wigfrid, Wolfgang, and Wurt.

I would set Wigfrid at 25 Wolfgang at 25, Wurt at 20 without a king and at 30 with a king.

My reasoning being Wigfrid with her warrior training as a viking would definitely have studied hand to hand combat. Wolfgang is strong but I doubt he accels in hand to hand combat so his strength would probably put him on par with Wigfrid if not slightly below her. As for Wurt she's 100% a mob so it makes the most sense for her to be able to effectively attack like other mobs but it's also acceptable for her to abit weaker than normal merms since she's a child however her gaining 10 damage on her punch would fall in line with what happens with merms when a king is alive.

Actually, I would prefer it that if I have two spears in my inventory and one breaks that my character auto swaps to the second spear instead of “punching” whatever im fighting at the time with its fist.

Football Helms auto equip when one breaks, axes auto equip when one breaks, but spears… lol Welp my weapon broke, let’s do fisticuffs while the gamer fumbles through their inventory to equip a new spear!

Its so annoying, and should have been addressed in a QoL a long time ago. I wouldn’t ever need to “punch” anything with my bare fists unless I just wanted to save weapon/tool durability.

Wait wait wait. Football helmets auto equip for you?

 

For me on PS4.... BATTLE helmets automatically equip and football helmets don't. Maybe that's a bug......
