[Suggestion] Improve the Tillweed Salve

Recommended Posts

Wormwood's skill tree introduced a new skill allowing him to gain petals while in full bloom. This gives a new interesting way Wormwood can obtain manure from petals, also trying to indirectly buff the tillweed salve for Wormwood, this gooey little thing.

The Tillweed Salve is a healing item which costs 4 tillweeds, 4 petals, and 1 charcoal, lasting 10 days and heals 8 health initially and 20 health over a minute. However the tillweed salve is barely used due to its high price from how difficult it is to amass 4 petals and 4 tillweeds for every salve, and how unlike every other healing item it spoils making it much more inconvenient to use for healing due to either having to bundle it, use it immediately or rely on food which spoils yet provides hunger and sanity benefits too.

So I suggest to make it a more viable option for Wormwood and other characters it should be improved so it:

  • Doesn't have a spoilage timer, making it last forever.
  • Has its cost halved, so its more of a reasonable investment for healing.

I would like to hear if else anyone has other ideas on how this item could be improved for others.

Sounds good to me, I've long liked the idea of this item, but it being a healing item with spoilage and rather fringe materials, it's always been on the impractical side for what it offers. Reducing at least the tillweeds required and lengthening or removing the spoilage could go a long way toward making this a viable item.

Reading through what everyone has said it reminded me how rare it is to plant and grow a decent supply of tillweed plants. According to the wiki the chance to grow a tillweed if a weed is planted is only 7.7%, whereas growing a Forget-me-lot if a weed is planted is 77%.

This makes it very hard to accumulate tillweeds from basic seeds, as they have a 20% to grow a weed meaning for each seed its a 1.54% to get a tillweed. Getting assistance from a fruit fly/lord of fruit flies only helps so much, for when I was trying to gain weeds for a decorative "weed garden" I have been making, I have only gotten about 7-10 tillweeds yet I still got bundles full of forget-me-lot flowers.

The extremely high rate at which forget-me-lots grow from weeds is also very unnecessary, for forget-me-lots are the only plant to be able to spread and multiply across your garden. This means with only one forget-me-lot your garden can be overrun with them, which has happened to me many times in the past.

I believe the chances to receive different types of weeds should be around 40% for forget-me-lots, and 20% to get a Fire Nettle, Tillweeds and Spiny Bindweed (totaling 60%). This way forget-me-lots will still remain the prominent weed you receive like before, however you will receive over twice the amount of the three other weeds allowing them to be grown and farmed much more easily.
