I was worried they were going to spawn near my base but they actually only spawn near meteorfields in my world. If this is the case, thank u for listening to feedback klei

don't think they spawn only near meteor field

I've gotten 4 rifts and they all spawned near meteorfield guess i'm just lucky then

They can spawn Anywhere, that’s why there called “Wild Rifts” but there not as Destructive as people in Beta lead me to believe they would be, I’m also on Xbox, so any tweaks or hotfixes that’s been done has yet to come to my game and as such: I’m probably playing an Old build (so Old in fact that the trading of shards to Wagstaff to start the Rifts isn’t in my game yet..)

That Said: It appears that rifts spawn anywhere in the world, but actively try to avoid spawning inside your base, the Brightshades that spawn from the Rifts however will roam a VERY VERY Long Distance away from their Rift, and will actively seek out your Garden plots (this was likely changed in a Hotfix but as I said I’m playing the Earlier Build) with only the Brightshade roaming into my Base while the Rift itself was a billion miles away the area of land the rift “Broke” was in a non-important Area, meanwhile the Brightshade had taken up residence in my Garden plot that was unfortunately for me built too close to my actual base.. so this things Tunneling vine could reach and smack me up while I tried to do things like Cook Crockpot dishes, look inside storage Chests, or sleep in my Tent/Siesta Lean-to to Heal Myself up a bit.

(Brightshades don’t appear to be able to destroy structures either..)

My first experience (or first 10 rather..) with the Brightshades were terrible, because getting too close to the Plant, or it’s end root is pretty much a 1 hit Kill.. However, (and as I later learned) to easily combat these things you need to get them to extend their vine branch out as far as you can, and then attack the center of it, not the plant or the end of its vine.. after a few hits it’ll cut in half stunning the plant allowing you to get about 8/10 hits in on it. But when it starts shaking it’s about to Recover so get away fast before it unleashes something similar to Wormwoods bramble husk to kill you. Rinse repeat the above a few times and the Brightshade is out your Garden.

Again I’m playing the Earliest build on console so as of right now, Rifts still spawn anywhere, and the plants actively seek out garden plots- even if they’re empty with no crops in them whatsoever like mine was..

Once you manage to kill 2 Brightshades you can craft the Brightshade Sword- which makes killing them that much Easier because it’ll only take 4 hits with a BS sword to break the vine in half and stun the Alien Moon Invader.

Fighting these things is easier than fighting a Moose/Goose..

You can just say "no, that isn't the case" instead of copy pasting a bunch of infos that don't help answering the problem.

Thing is, I don’t know what is current with the game because as I’ve said- I’m playing on Xbox and Xbox is running on a build that Currently doesn’t even have the Wagstaff interaction after defeating CC to trigger the Rifts.

So as of right now- Brightshades target crops on Xbox.. if this was changed in a PC Update, consoles have yet to get this change & my build of the game & any information I can provide on it is invalidated.

That said, the actual description for the update very specifically mentions that the Brightshades are interested in Crop Plots- Not a blade of Grass, or some saplings, or your Banana Bushes you got from moon Quay.. but the actual Crop Soil (made with a Garden Rigamajig) it doesn’t matter if you have any crops planted in the garden or not, the Brightshades (at least on Xbox..) still seek out the soil created from using a Rigamajig.

It would be more productive if you go to the DST Xbox One forum instead of typing misinformation in the general discussion.

How do you know this? I am sure you have never defeated cc.
