Is it me, or those new updates are a build up for something bigger?

In the Curse of Moon Quay, we find a suspicious portal rift, in Wilson rework, we find a new boss, which I assume, came from different possible portal rift, and now in beta update, there is a moon rifts. Is it me, but I'm feeling that those updates are building up for something massive? Especially when new Weeping drops new different nightmare fuel, and moon rifts create different moon shards. I think is it gonna a fight between shadows and moon, but that may be just a theory. Just sharing my thoughts about it

(Sorry if there will grammatical errors, English not my first language :P )

bruv we endured a full year with just 2 content updates but were assured that those updates were setting the stage (i wasn't expecting an actual stage but ok) for something. It'd be a big disappointment if it doesnt go anywhere.

I want to stay positive and believe Klei knows what they're doing, but I'm dooming. I've seen too many great stories go bad because they started just like this.

  1. Make a great story with lots of potential lore
  2. Get a huge fanbase that makes a lot of theories <---- (You are here!)
  3. Writers don't want the fanbase to predict major plotpoints, so they'll do whatever they can so it'll be a "surprise"
  4. It doesn't work and makes no sense and goes against the entire plot
  5. Fans hate it, everyone is mad, fanbase dies within a month. The game/series/movie/book's legacy will forever be 'what NOT to do'

You know what's the greatest form of media i've consumed? The ones who's stories was planned from the start. The current story of Don't Starve was not planned from the start.

(please please please do not mess this up i am putting all my eggs in one basket i will never be able to trust again)

The problem is that DST is already a developed game. It has tons and tons of  content and the game doesnt feel like it's lacking much. ex. what's an actual challenge in the game that players struggle to deal with? Only thing that could get worked upon is the caves. It's fairly empty and traversing the caves on foot can be tedious, but that's literally the only thing I can think of. Now we love this game and want more content. But it's going to be difficult. Best example I can think of is: you wrote a 5 page report that is good to go. However, you are instructed to add 2 or 3 more pages to it. Now you're just adding stuff for the sake of adding stuff. While that may not be exactly what Klei is dealing with now, you get what I'm saying.

It's actually Wagstaff who is currently the leader of the Lunar side. He rewards players for helping him harvest the moon's powers. New Wilson's affinity description references him. too. Similarly, Charlie reward the prayer for helping her to weaken AF until she can steal him.

The leader of lunar side is Alter. Wagstaff appears more like third party member.
