Brightshade Armor costs more than a Helmet yet has same durability

Recommended Posts

Just like Dreadstone Armor, which I think should still be changed, here the Body Armor is more expensive than the Helmet for no additional benefit.

I don't think the Armor being in a different slot warrants it being more expensive.

If the Armor shouldn't get a buff on it's own I'd hope the Armor and Helmet would just get the same recipe (ie +1 Husk for Helmet -1 Husk for Armor; both costing 3. Dreadstone could cost 5 for either piece)

4 Brilliance + 2 Plant Husk (Helmet) compared to 4 Brilliance + 4 Plant Husk (Armor).

If anything the helmet should be more expensive because head slot items are better in nearly all situations.

Helmets being better is normally offset by the body armour equivalent providing more protection and having more durability, like the thulecite set. I dislike that both Dreadstone pieces give the same protection and have the same durability. I also dislike that the only reason helmets are better than armour is because the magiluminescence is so good.

The thulecite crown actually provides more protection than the thulecite suit: both have 90% damage resistance, but the crown also has the forcefield ability that provides 100% resistance. The thulecite suit does however have exactly 50% more durability to counteract costing 50% more thulecite.

I definitely think something should be done about this. Not necessarily giving the body armor more protection, since that may make it too good, but buffing it in some way to counteract the increased cost, or simply making it cost the same.

I've never used it before, but I can definitely see how having a 20% speed boost would be very useful in combat. The reason I prefer helmets is to be able to wear a backpack and still have protection in the event of an unexpected attack that happens too quickly to equip body armor.

Helmets are nice if you don't want to drop your backpack during combat or want something like an Amulet while Armor is great if you're using a Miner Hat or seasonal hat such as the Beefalo Hat or Eyebrella because they outclass Seasonal Vests.

I spend like 60% of the year with a Seasonal hat glued to my head so I prefer Body Armor while people who value the Magilum probably too much would prefer mostly Helmets.

Neither is strictly better for all scenarios in the game and you'd want both of any desirable armor set, one piece shouldn't just cost more for being in a different slot.
