Does anyone know how this resource regrowth works?

Recommended Posts

I'm running low on berry bushes on my world and I recall that this was added to the world settings.

I've located the component responsible for it in forestresourcespawner.lua, but I don't fully understand how it works.

Can anyone enlighten me on how this works?

As far as I can tell, every 30-60 segments, the game checks beyond a 240 unit radius from the player and then respawns items based on a list it has? That's as far as I could understand.

From what I can tell, basic resources regrow at specific points around the world. These points are actually every single “wilderness” spawn point the world has (since while that normally is an optional setting, every single world has them).

I usually see them slowly filling every spawn point with basic resources around every 20 days. Unlike most forms of regrowth, these ignore regrowth checks such as spawning too close to a structure. The only thing they seem to check is if the turf below them are natural or not.

From my experience grass is usually the most common, followed by berry bushes (with the juicy ones being slightly rarer), and then a mix of either saplings or twiggy trees (which, oddly enough for me, will still spawn every if the twiggy tree option is disabled).

I’m not sure of any specifics/advice on how to farm them other then to keep tabs of which area spawns which resources and dig them all every once and awhile. From my experience I’ve been able to pretty consistently upkeep Berry Bushes/grass tufts from this, and am only really lacking on saplings.
