Some Seasonal changes to make the seasons more fun.

Being able to accomplish things. There isn't much underground.

I thought maybe this was sarcasm, but I suppose just a playstyle difference. I find ruins / grotto / cave bosses very rewarding and fun.

Compare the difficulty of pressing right click on a chilled amulet or luxury fan every 10 or 20 minutes vs either dedicating a ton of inventory slots to heat + sitting around waiting to heat up or having an extremely limited amount of heat + sitting around waiting to heat up. You can burn trees too, but that can cause big fires if you aren't careful, the trees are only in some places, and it's still sitting around waiting to heat up.

Im not saying the seasons are difficult anymore, but there should be a reward for dealing with the extra hassle. These seasons are shorter and cant be selected to begin the game with since they are categorically more challenging than autumn and spring. Also you absolutely dont need to wait during winter, just create a tile of farmland with 9 fire nettles (with lord of the fruit flies) and harvest it when you drop by home. Just eat a nettle when you get cold, no waiting needed plus CC crown makes the darkness a non issue.

How are you calling cactus flowers bad and ice good

Well, since you asked:

- find a penguin camp: +20 ice, not just one

- penguin camps can spawn literally anywhere and can even be forced to spawn, not just in desert

- as mentioned, ice lasts forever in an ice box, just leave a couple stacks there for good

- 6 ice crafting recipes vs nothing for cactus flower (since Pearl's house was changed too)

- 9 ice crockpot dishes vs one for cactus flower

- no need for specialised gear to harvest or dealing with any slowing sandstorms

Need I go on?

3 things isn't very much. If you've already got enough thulecite gear there isn't much down there.

I know how you can get ice. If you make better food you don't need ice. A few pig houses will automatically give you food (not just filler) year-round at the base instead of needing to spend a long time wandering the earth looking for something that gives 2 hunger on its own.

Plus it gives you pig skin too.

Cactus flowers, desert stones, the longest days of the year, red gems. The problem with summer isn't that it's unrewarding or "lacks a reason to stay on the surface", it's a lack of content. A single boring boss in the most boring biome is basically the extent of it.

If I was putting in a bunch of effort like that I'd just make Warly's dishes.

Ice has utility beyond food filler unlike cactus flowers and having better food also makes flower salads obsolete, so a moot point. Besides, ice is useful for sanity dishes even late game (I tend to spam banana pops for FW for instance).

Lacks a reason to stay on surface = lack of content. I'd kill for something similar to Walrus hunters but for summer, respawning with a cooldown with worthwhile rare drops and challenge. Antlion can be killed on the 1st day of summer and never respawns, so it doesnt really incentivise you to stay up.

It's not that hard. Takes about 2 days of digging out the wrong weeds after spawning the boss. After that anyone can use it and it lasts forever, no need to bundle anything and you dont need to constantly swap characters. Imo fire nettles are seriously underrated.

Need more type weather for seasons, how frog rain in spring, add more random in game.

Why all forget Rainometer and Thermal Measurer. Make its things better and useful.

Autumn and Spring take fog and hail, Winter take blizzard, Summer take hay fever instead of wildfire.

Thermal measurer has no use as far as I know but Rainometer is very useful when trying to predict rain both up top and in caves so you know somewhat when to get ready for a fight using lightning damage

And how often do you used it ? No, seriously. In cave yes, but up top only for battle with Morning star or eat Volt goat chaud-froid only spring. Another season it not uses.

Helps you know when the season is gonna change soon.

20 day autumn and spring, 15 day winter and summer, if you used standard setting.

Spring: During Spring, Wet tentacles will regenerate, and the world will go into a flooded state after the first rainstorm. When the world enters its flooded state, the ocean will become a treacherous place. It will move inwards by two tiles. Ponds will also become larger. Fish will bite hooks way more often. Structures that are covered by the floods will become inaccessible. Huge waves will appear, and if the player runs into them, they will gain some wetness. If the player gets hit by the waves while moving in the same direction as the waves, they get a speed boost forwards. The ocean will become way more rewarding, but risky. All enemies (including pirate monkey raids) will be increased by 1.5 x. Sea stacks will be lower down, and much harder to see. Sea weeds will always be awake, and will attack players who get too close. But wreckage can be found which house many different materials and blueprints. New sea life will exist which means more crock pot dishes. Two blueprints can be found in wreckages. One called the boat trawler. It is a net which catches any fish that travel under your boat. The other is a boat umbrella which stops all rain from falling onto the boat. It is a sail attatchement.

How about this instead: The flooding will fill up the abyss in the caves that will make boats and water structures temporarily usable, but upon summer, all of those structures will sink and disappear.

Going to Atrium with a boat would be funny.
