This is the first time since The Screecher that I got scared in don't starve

I know this is really stupid, but the new dark sound that plays upon opening shadow chester genuinely scared me.

I kept the eyebone and glommer's flower in chester this whole time, but today I booted up my main world for the first time since Maxwell rework, got confused because the bone and flower are on the floor, then got surprised because the shadows started breathing in my ear.

Very cool klei add more jumpscares please!

Here's a story of one of the few times I got actually scared in DST:

It happened in my very early days in Don't Starve, I was walking through a forest and night was getting closer, so I put down a campfire and started waiting. There was a wormhole just a few steps away into the darkness and I didn't know what it could do at the time. Spiders started wandering around, so I kept my eyes on them to avoid a fight and sanity was also becoming a problem with the distortion, desaturation and noises. Those noises kept getting louder and the spiders had pushed me to the edge of the darkness, then, suddenly, something hidden in the shadows bit me and I could only see its mouth full of teeth before panicking, running into a spider and dying. The game over screen covered the scene and I had no idea what happened. My only guess was that the wormhole came alive at night and hunted me upon stepping away from the light.

Eventually, I realized it must've been a hound attack, but for some time, I was afraid to base near a wormhole, even after seeing their function.

I'd love to see more creepy moments in the game.
