I think its warranted and it would distinguish it more from the Abridged version.

if its able to fully grow farm plants while at the same time tending each stage and adding nutrients to the soil then it should also be able to fully grow simpler crops like stone fruit and banana bushes. 

H. Expanded only has three uses, actually two if u want to repair it which u do since the recipe is not cheap, so it wouldnt be like before when the cheap 5 use Applied Horticulture could instantly and fully grow as many stone fruit bushes as u wanted with 1 read. 

Currently having to use up an entire H. Expanded to grow 15 banana bushes feels so bad when at the same time those 3 reads could be used to instantly grow 45 tomatoes + 90 seeds… 

can this be changed pls?

Agreed, Hor. Expanded doesn't seem so expanded compared to it's Abridged version. It should have that oomph to grow odd ball plants unlike the other growth books.

Horticulture Expanded might be appealing to new players so we can't ignore it

Personally I don't think Im gonna use it in its current form since basic horticulture can give me 50 crops starting with only 10 seeds, no watering or nutrients needed; make sure the plants have family and season bonus, and tend only once preferably at seed stage, no need for tending during other stages - this method ensures enough stress points to give you crop and a seed back to replant it
