Bramble husk change is nice but...

Recommended Posts

I talked about this in the comment under the update post but decided to make another topic.

Bramble husk buff is really nice, it's basically a better log suit now in terms of stats and a few passive abilities.

However, when I saw the note about "improvement" I thought of another way of activating shooting spikes because current condition of getting hit seems to contradict with Wormwood's play style based around being careful with his health.

So, I'll definitely going to use bramble husk but simply because it's a better log suit stats wise and not it's unique ability of reflecting "counter attack" and I really hope Klei will add another way of activating it or change the current one.

Edit: just saw reply about the purpose of bramble husk being preventing you from being stunlocked by hordes. And that's a valid point because if you think about it this way it also helps you loose less health than you would without it.

Yeah the dream definitely was for the husk to trigger when worn by Wormwood without needing to be hit .. since everyone else is already better at using it to tank than him.

but if i ignore that aspect since i mostly play solo anyway.. then these changes are still really great. I definitely did not expect 80% protection and battle helmet level durability.

Stingers in the recipe are also better than both shards and hounds teeth so thats a win as well.

ive heard the periodic trigger is a feature in uncomp mode. I wish it was available as a standalone mod :wilson_cry:

The new bramble husk is definitely nice though it's still a hard sell over night armor and marble suits against stronger foes, in my opinion.

95% armor reduction helps the bat bat durability, and helps wormwood save sanity, and DPS (even if small).

Tanking with wormwood is just usually not worth it, and if you want to, it's best to use double bone armor when possible. Though maybe bone armor isn't a fair comparison as that's late game stuff.

2 night armors + 3-4 football helmets and 1 bat bat + hambat/1 darkswords (first prototyped to learn recipe) is how I usually take down my first dragonfly.

If bramble traps hit flying enemies and self reset quickly I can see tanking as Wormwood being more effective.

Maybe they could add an additional item that allows Wormwood and only Wormwood to trigger the bramble husk and traps to trigger (and reset) on command in a radius. Similar to Webber's whistle. A living log flute to replace the removed poison balm.

With such a flute you are still paying for their activation (but on your terms). Play the flute and the bramble husk triggers x number times within the next few seconds (still consuming durability), and bramble traps activate or reset. The flute could cost 3 or more living logs for greater control over his own items.
