I find it very odd you don't force drop your equipment on logout

So lets assume a scenario in where the players want to play in the server for whole day, but gets disconnected due to network problems and when they come back they are broke! This should only be done as a server mod for private servers.

I never said you should drop it instantly. i said a cache should be created and locked to anyone but you for a period of time (20 min or more)

Think bigger, by default it should be like 2 days. 20 mins is a very unreasonably short amount of time for medium-long running servers, where many players do revisit after a night's sleep.

Besides in its current state is really not very problematic. Griefing potential isn't worth mentioning since rollbacks exist to combat those and what's stopping the griefers from taking the items and just burning/ hiding them anyway. I'd be in favor of a system where vote-kicked players drop their inventory though.

As for resources, loot and food, most are very much renewable in the constant. Issues like mandrakes, reeds and cacti flowers shall be adressed with increased world regrowth mechanics but regardless there exists viable alternatives for anything I can think of that can be "held off" in a disconnected inventory. Anything that cant be replaced is dropped anyway. Pearl's Pearl is one problematic item though that if a griefer hides in the vast ocean, could be really problematic without relocstion mechanics.
