What is wrong with this grass gekko farm?

I'm trying to make a grass gekko farm and I was able to spawn the first batch. However after almost a year in game of harvesting, the second batch still hasn't spawned. Is there something that is preventing the second batch to spawn?

I think its pure luck based, but i dunno.

One thing I remember is that ANY type of "harvesting" the grass qualifies as a trigger event to spawn them, so if you plant a single grass and dig it back you can repeatedly trigger until the rng kicks in and you spawn your gekkos.

You can't spawn new geckos after less of ~60 days. So you should wait at least half of year (full year better) between harvesting.

This is only the case for the first gekkos that spawn, and I think the time limit is 40 days. The OP already has a herd of gekkos, so I believe they are just having bad luck with the next one. I've had worlds where I waited for 200 days for the first gekkos to spawn, and I've had worlds where 2 herds of gekkos spawned in 3 days. It's just a matter of luck and patience.

as other said is luck based

This is the way. You can trigger them without needing to build the long path, I used to do it the way your doing it and and it would take awhile.

i dont use the path is more annoying that letting them free and later freezing them in the pen's door

the path just make you lose tons of time

Do you use a push mod?  If you don't, any tips for pushing w/o?

I only recently started using ice staves for these guys and I suck at pushing them lol  I have a push mod, but it feels a bit cheat-y

i dont. What i do is to move them close to the door and freeze them, i push them little by little (not using walking cane helps) and if they start shaking i freeze them again but that wont be needed if they are near the pen. Also you can take advantage of walls to push them quickly, for example lets say the door is in the middle of a 10 fences, you can push the gekko until is walking towards the fence and freeze them, late just push it using the wall until you reach the door. Having 2 doors helps because the opening is bigger and having 2 doors behind 2 doors (i dont know how to explain it but is just making a secondary set of doors for security) helps to make them not leave (really helps if you alpha(i explain later) is outisde)

also i think they have a similar behaviour like goats, they follow 1 alpha so they will be around the same location if you dont move far away the leader. There is no need of knowing which one is the leader, just make sure they are close to the door so any goes far away. The secondary set of doors help with this because you might push inside geekos that will try to get close to your alpha gekko which can lead to them scaping when you open the door

i know my english suck so tell me if something isnt clear

edit. obv when you will practise it will be easier, at first i sucked hard at moving them
