This is ALREADY the “Xbox Experience” with DST, we don’t actually have Klei official servers (yet..) so any (and all) hosted games are hosted by a Player host- and when you join that hosts game you will be playing by whatever world Gen settings they have applied at the time. Ive joined worlds as Wurt where the world was permanently locked to 24/7 Summer and to make matters worse- Ice was completely disabled with Wildfires set to happen more frequently. These are the kind of experiences I have with this game on a daily basis when I choose to join another players game instead of hosting my own (I wish Klei will do a QoL update that lets me see what all the host has toggled for their settings AFTER I have already joined their world, because at the time of me typing this you can only review what has been toggled Before joining the session.) Boss scaling is just another notch on that list of things they could (& should) be able to toggle. And upon further pondering- how it SHOULD work in a Klei Official server is “World Gen Presets” you play by the rules KLEI has set for that particular server.. (so yes you can literally have servers where bosses are a large hp grind intended for lots of players, and servers where they’re easy to kill with low hp) This is solveable via mods. It sounds dumb, but have you even tried the original computer edition? It is better than the console ones. goblinball
I’m glad that the dst community doesn’t focus on bosses as much as other indie games communities. Other than some tweaks to AG and CK I think the bosses are fine where they’re at rn and I personally would focus on adding more content to other aspects of the game before adding more bosses. The larvae are multiplayer centric clearly encouraging multiple players to defeat them as they weren't in singleplayer and they can swarm you. Keep in mind a boss like the Terrarium (unsure if thats the items name or the bosses name, but you know what i mean) has similar mechanics (an aoe attack, a different form and minion summoning) but is actually well made where you have no reason to cheese it. The minions can be dealt with in two ways either leading the Terrarium away from them when it's dashing or killing them before they actually spawn (however the risk reward lets the player who led the Terrarium away successfully get more hits in), the aoe isn't really any better but it does feel like an actual attack since Terrarium already doesn't have a normal attack like a bite or tentacle swing unlike Dfly whose entire fight has her swinging at you. The dash is also a fantastic way to spice up kiting as long as it isn't overused. Now the twins are another story, but I'm talking about basic Terrarium. All I'm saying is if I'm playing as Walter, I'm fine with actually fighting Klaus even though there is a very easy cheese strat with his slingshot and a boat, because even though Klaus isn't a revolutionary boss he doesn't have any unfun or multiplayer centric mechanics. Even if you disagree about Dfly, there are multiple bosses made for multiplayer that are horrible in singleplayer who should at least have a health adjustment when on singleplayer, such as Crabking or Bee queen.
