Wolfgang's Rework Suggestions and QOL Ideas

Recommended Posts

I think this Reworked Wolfgang is finally coming together. But, after playing the Beta for the past few days, i'd like to give a few Suggestions & QOL ideas.

1. Close Attacking While Mighty

Currently, you can only do Close Attack with Dumbbells when Wimpy & Normal. In Mighty you always throw it.
Make it so:

  • Left-Click (F): Close Attack
  • Ground Right Click: Throw
  • Dumbbell Right-Click: Lift

EDIT 1: And maybe replace the Silly Punch animation with the Weapon Swing animation.

2. Reward More Staying at High Hunger

Make staying at High Hunger (150-200) more noticeable, right now it barely makes any difference with the 0.9X drain (11.1% Uptime Increase).
I would suggest setting it to 0.8X (25%) or 0.75X (33.3%), and with this would be very close to the 1 Full Day in Mightness.

3. Better Tier Dumbell (Thulecite Barbell)

Gembell is really fine as it is, but why not reward players who would adventure down in the ruins to get a better one?
Gembell increases Mightiness by 1.875 a tick. Maybe the Thulecite Barbell (and yes, Barbell, those with a long bar) would increase it by 2.8125 (50% Better).

4. Increase Dumbbells Attacking Durability

The Throw Durability is already good and fitting (Who would thought that throwing things around would make them break faster?).
But after the Last Patch, it makes even more sense now that we should be able to attack with it more and regain Mightiness while fighting.
However to compensate for that, i'm fine with tuning down their damage a bit.
Maybe like this:

  • Stone:            Damage - 20.4 (Spear X 0.6)     |    Uses - 30    |    Throws - 10
  • Gold:              Damage - 27.2 (Spear X 0.8)     |    Uses - 60    |    Throws - 20
  • Gem:              Damage - 34    (Spear X 1.0)     |    Uses - 60    |    Throws - 20
  • Thulecite?:    Damage - 42.5 (Spear X 1.25)   |    Uses - 75    |    Throws - 25

EDIT 2: And, of course, apply the 2X Damage on Throws.

5. Maneuver the Anchor / Sails Faster

I saw this QOL idea somewhere in the Forums, and i agree, it fits the Strongman Theme we are going for.

6. Remove Insulation Buff / Debuff

I might be missing something, but this perk has nothing to do with Strongman. Even the Speed they removed was more logical.

For now, that's it. Maybe i come back and add more suggestions. What do you guys think?

maybe the mightiness drain mult at high hunger was intended to not be much higher than at med hunger, else player will feel forced to keep eating constantly like old wolfgang to gain max benefits from it, which would be 'annoying?' thus counter the ideas of this rework

To me it wouldn't, but i agree this could be annoying to some people.

Old wolf taught me to care about monitoring my stats, not so much my hp and sanity but ya know. Looking at your food bar from time to time and topping up isn't going to kill people, and if they don't do it they just weaken faster no big deal.

Considering how small the aoe hitbox is, and how absurd the idea of throwing things when humans have the highest melee attack speed, and how his whole point of Wolfgang is to do a double melee damage - dumbbells should do some insane damage to actually be worth using. I'm talking 150 damage at least for the stone one, 250 for gold, and somewhere in the 500 for gembell. About 750 if they gonna make him throw and break heavy things like mega veggies. Anything less is simply impractical for anything when you are a melee champion.

Throwing your expensive dumbbell in a crowd of enemies just to see it disintegrate into nothing

Lol the only way i see that being balanced is if they make it durability lost per enemy hit.

(THIS IS AN EDITED REPOST)

Revert him

>Remove constant values as the fluctuation was one of the original downsides to playing

Wolfgang.

This will (probably) satisfy the constant generated seethe of players

who want wolfgang nerfed because he mogs your main

and give oldies a part of wolfgangs original gameplay back.

>Wolfgang recieves his old speed boost and it scales with sanity and/or hunger bar,

decays at a rate of 5% subtracted from his 25% speed boost every 20 below max

and only activates with mightiness meter if you are literally gonna be stubborn with

this speed change.

He's an athlete, I can gaurantee you bronze age strongman can run faster than you,

especially men with more recruited muscle fiber and explosive strength training. He has

weights now for muh strongman lore. Speed cannot be both "over-rated" but at the

same time removed because muh op 300lb gigachad. If old wolfgang was comparatively

inferior to new wolfgang, it would make sense to just keep his original design or just not

change it at all. He's a combat character by the very mechanics of the game, he was

intended to be THE quintessential incapsulation of the soldier and the things wigfrid

isn't in a character that is designed to fight things. Stop complaining because you got

speed-mogged.

>Inb4 muh kiting

unless you're the flash you're going to get barely one hit in on a boss before

you get mogged. its exciting to be fast and DESTROY smaller monsters in

the rest of the game. speed = fun, another reason why

removing it was dumb.

>inb4 speed makes on wolfgang makes zero sense

read what i wrote 3 sentences ago. Lore and gameplay-wise, his speed

makes sense due to what i just said

> Health change reverted, scales with old hunger bar but only activates with mightiness meter.

No reason why a gorilla size mass monster that can lift 100lb barbells like a wooden pole needs to be

only slightly more durable than a wimpy scientist. I would add more complexity and challenge to

obtain this so the mogged wendy doesn't seethe but I currently don't have any ideas. Wolfgangbros,

any suggestions?

>Fighting and laborous activity increases or halts mightiness meter, slows down by 5-10% based on

how many stacks of items in inventory. This only works with stackable items and

heavy items. Ex, distilled knowledge, dumbells, rocks, etc

I think I saw @mr.brj and many others complain about the new afk gym simulator.

This solves the problem easily but I also need input on what values would

be needed to make this balanced.

>Mightiness only activated with mighty meter above 50, damage buff from therein

still scales with hunger but you still recieve 1.1x damage for at least working

out. Mass is still king.

Faithful to original wolfgang and vet players I think. Seemingly balanced. Again, what do

wolfgangbros think and what would you do about the values?

> gym now gives slower or halted mightiness decay for 1-5 minutes depending on the load

at the end of a complete workout (full mightiness meter)

ex. potato bags = 1 min, stone statues = 2 minutes, marble or glass statue = 3 minutes

A better purpose for gym without making it an ingame cookie clicker strength tent

which was made to farm fit points to go into smacking monsters without

needing to craft caveman workout equipment from shiny rocks to do what

bloatlord sigma wolfgang did pre-rework and make the game x10 more boring

playing wolfgang for no reason. This also ties into my next

suggestion.

> change dumbells to barbells or kettlebells and give it a buff to

might gain.

Fits in with old-timey strongmen better and makes using them less tedious

and a reason to use them as an alternative to in-game manual labor. Since it doesn't offer

the halted decay buff, it will be balanced and not just a portable gym with durability.

>wimpy mode at 100 hunger with mightiness and hunger decay accelerated x6.

Self-explanatory.

These changes make this ugly spergfest tolerable at the very least and are subject to change, but if you cannot make wolfgang good just revert him and be done with it. Wolfgang players (ONLY WOLFGANG PLAYERS) and not Toros because he just posts essays of cope, please post input and be vocal, do not allow the tide of people who never play this character to overwhelm klei with bad suggestions and if it can be helped, do not make this character watered down to appease people who never intended to play wolfgang for more than two seconds pre-rework. Use what I said as a template, take parts of it to make a better idea for a rework, improve it, DON'T let wolfgang get castrated. Alright, enough effortposting, im gonna post sneed on 4chan or omegle.
