It was kinda a little tedious but i hope the new changes to the dumbells fixes that (not really hope since i read that the golden ones still being horrible to raise the meter while mighty...) and im not saying this to flex "like git gud i rushed fw at day 12 you play wrong damn noob", not even close. I said that because im so bad at rushing things and also my playstyle can be grindy for some people since i tent to let the world as intact as possible (yes i chop for wood in first autumn, fight me) so i guess wolfgang could be even better in hands of someone with more experience at rushing things. Is just matter of getting used, my first attemp was horrible and boring, i was so triggered towards klei for ruining him but later i understood how to use the dumbbells in a less annoying way for me and enjoyned i a lot and for that i started a new world and my gameplay improved a lot for sure is way slower than prewolfgang, that cant be discussed Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/136013-lifting-weights-feels-like-a-break-in-the-gameplay/page/5/#findComment-1523784 Share on other sites

I don't see how anything I said was an exaggeration, or how our plays differed besides that one point. Some things have changed now with the patch, the weights are better and Mighty got non-combat perks, but that is now, this was then. Before the patch lifting in wimpy form gave you double the meter gains as normal with both stone and gold weights and Mighty only gave you a combat perk. It was inefficient to maintain mighty unless you were going to fight, and at that point you're faced with all of the time it takes to build the meter compared to whatever task you're looking to accomplish. You might not have noticed since you did a bit of it here and there, and were probably preoccupied with doing it that you didn't consider whether it was efficient or not. Its much easier to compare the time sink of gaining Mighty with the actual benefit of 2x damage when you have to do it all at once. Spending 4 attacks per spider b/c wimpy debuff compared to standing still for a minute getting mighty and 2 attacks per... Which is better? Depends entirely on how many spiders you're planning to kill. If you chose to maintain mighty instead of dropping to wimpy that's your choice, but it's not always an efficient choice. I'm pretty sure the intention was to play as you did which is why they updated the math to support that, but that wasn't the case then. NOW a goldbell is as good at maintaining 75 as it is at gaining to get there, so spreading out the tedium by lifting here or there is no different then gaining it up at once provided your downtime wasn't enough to drain to 0. Although still if your downtime from Mighty activities is greater than the time for your Mighty meter to deplete its more efficient to go wimpy and not burn the resources. Things change when you get a gym because the time and resource cost is significantly lower, even with potato sacks or basic statues, but if you count the time you're running back and forth to the gym it can add right back up so if you're still exploring the map this still isn't a great choice. I don't see how I exaggerated at all. With Wanda once I get the alarming clock the only upkeep is using a watch ~once per day, and killing a few shadow creatures. Its easy to stay insane, especially with blue caps which are conveniently plentiful in front of the archives which is a great early target for Wanda so she can build some extra watches. The amount of gains you get from 1 watch use far surpasses one pump of the weights for Wolfgang. This is why I am still griping about maintaining mighty in long fights. The effort you put in to get a single pump of the weights mid-fight compared to the risk and reward is just awful right now. For most fights this won't matter, but for the biggest bosses or for not-best-case-scenario runs, this is a BIG ask for Wolfgang... Brotha, how do you feel if Wolfgang were to gain mighty whilst hard labouring? Chopping/fighting/mining/hammering or at least have it slow down the might drain. It would take some of the insistence on these dumbbells and gym equipment away and allow more a more of an active role like before since wolf could build himself up whilst gathering materials. Just make it so that whenever you attack something the Mighty meter skips the next tick against it, maybe even extend this to mining / chopping. They already do this for carrying statues, so its not without precedence, and could even be considered as being a more consistent design. They could even give pumping a weight a similar reprieve. If they did this they could increase the drain tilting the play towards continual small maintenance rather than long stints pumping weights at once to gain meter. Might be the better way to go anyway since long stints standing still watching a weight pump on loop is boring, while taking an action to pump a weight once every few minutes is gameplay. As it sits now even post patch pumping your weights from nil to mighty before a task is always most efficient, while pumping weights as you go to maintain is only AS efficient IF the meter wouldn't have had time to drop to zero, and sadly sometimes its not efficient so you either complete the task in wimpy or play any 1x damage mod character XD Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/136013-lifting-weights-feels-like-a-break-in-the-gameplay/page/5/#findComment-1523856 Share on other sites
