zach123b
so with the newest patch changes we have the applied sciences research (yellow) and data analysis research (orange). data analysis changed to take data banks and we have more options for radbolt generation first, yellow research is only from radbolt generation. we got the new manual radbolt generator and the radiation lamp. both consume uranium to run. the manual one takes 1kg uranium, enriched or ore, and 0w. to get enriched, it takes the centrifuge. the only difference is how much depleted uranium you get (500kg vs 960kg with the 1000kg mined geode) with the manual radbolt generator, you get the same radbolts out. the radiation lamp with some radbolt generators are more efficient radbolt generation but is power hungry. the geode gives 1000kg uranium ore which will give 5000radbolts with the manual radbolt generator or more with a radiation lamp configuration, with 1:1 lamp:generator you can get around 6000radbolts. you could shotgun run a research reactor and it could run upwards of 200 cycles on the centrifuge enriched uranium, just place it in an ice biome next is orange science, this takes data banks. 1 data bank = one point of research. you get about 7-15 data banks from analyzing a geyser/vent. you get 1 data bank for 5kg of plastic in an orbital data collection lab. and lastly, you get 1 data bank for simply clicking on 'inspect' on each POI building that can be inspected for all but the final 5 large researches, it takes 3200radbolts and 300 data banks. you can make 3200radbolts easily with the given uranium ore, although the large researches take 3700radbolts each with the cryofuel one taking 4350, 19150 in total. then we get 10 geysers on the starting asteroid with roughly 10-15 from inspecting stuff so 100-150data banks on the starting asteroid, that is analyzing the minor volcanoes and everything. you're probably better off with getting necessities and producing data banks with plastic soon. once you get plastic, i'd upgrade to a research reactor and a rocket to produce data banks i hope the devs add a database entry for producing data banks. but i like that they're making uranium more approachable imo tldr: manual radbolt generator is inefficient but with the uranium geode(on the 3 base SO maps), you can research all but the largest research projects with a dead simple setup. with the added way to generate data banks, you can easily research one mid tier research project and possibly 2-4 if you analyzed/inspect everything easily accessible Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/134953-changes-in-research/ Share on other sites
gabberworld
what you mean? Orbital Data Collection Lab does the Data Banks. at beginning yes they not todo that but they changed that Data Bank have 9726.9c Melting point, does anyone managed go that high temp? gabberworld
if anyone notice that Sucrose not have gas what means it can go up to unlimited heat till game stops it at 9725.9c crap. i hoped it go higher another funny thing is dupe have Melting point at 9726.9 as well. what basically means they are immortals to heat Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/134953-changes-in-research/#findComment-1509340 Share on other sites
zach123b
i'm glad you found that sucrose has no gas and what the highest heat we can get is. but, that's really off topic for this thread i wanted to bring up the discussion of the changes to research. how, imo, they made it easier and more approachable for someone new to the game to further research Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/134953-changes-in-research/#findComment-1509351 Share on other sites

gabberworld
for example this would it not be cool if you click that and the you are able start build them self as well? well in back off days i think ed that im able somehow build ATEN this way but then i relaise i need use some-sort mod instead Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/134953-changes-in-research/#findComment-1509401 Share on other sites

Everything that is not supposed to melt like dupes or neutronium has that as it`s melting point and if you reach it the game crashes (or at least that`s what used to happen). Databanks aren`t supposed to be destroyed by heat just like seeds or food items. As for sucrose i`m surprised they didn`t make it change into carbon at some point. 11 hours ago, zach123b said: i wanted to bring up the discussion of the changes to research. how, imo, they made it easier and more approachable for someone new to the game to further research Yes it looks like they are streamlining it a bit more. I still find it weird that simple clicking inspect on each poi item drops a data bank without a dupe even comming close or that you can inspect the mini pod that you had just build.
