On the topic of sweaters and cool vests

Yes, this topic again. The clothes work by altering the dupe`s insulation stat so in theory they should make them fare better in cold or hot areas depending on the suit. But that`s not the case in ONI. Unlike humans dupes feel just fine when the outside temperature is around 36 C.

A human when in cold starts producing more internal heat to counteract that. Adding insulative clothing helps keep the heat from spreading to the enviroment and keep the human warm. That`s the same for dupes and that`s why warm sweaters work just fine.

But a human in a hot enviroment sweats to dissipate the heat faster around himself. That`s why lowering the insulation of the clothing helps with that. Meanwhile dupes just delete heat to simulate that so lowering insulation through cool vests does exactly nothing. It actually makes matters worse allowing dupes to heat faster from the enviroment. In this case it is better for dupes to use warm sweaters in hot areas which seems illogical and makes cool vests useless.

A simple fix for this issue would be adding a passive heat modifier for both clothing types. An extra heat generation would simulate better insulation of the sweater and would be a downside for hot areas. An extra heat removal for the cool vests would simulate the easier heat loss via sweating and actually help in hot areas while still hurt in cold. The suits could also modify the hypothermia/heat stroke thresholds accordingly.

I`m not going to beat the dead horse about clothing checkpoints. Yes they would be useful but imo the bigger issue is what i mentioned above.
