Insulated doors

Recommended Posts

As noted above, there is a mod for this.  But yes, it really should be a stock thing.  Same for the Heavy-watt Joint Plate (both normal and conductive types.)

Related to that second part, the power rating of wires, transformers, and such should all be synchronized.

I know right. I was thinking to myself if I wanted a freezer or a sauna the temperature just bleeds right through the metal doors . . . . why aren't there insulated doors??

If you do not want to use the mod which is great and I am using it; there are other mechanics in the game to prevent heat transfer.

There are so many options just to give a few:

two viscogel "door" separated by a vacuum.

also when you built a fully automated unit, you can seal the metal door with thermoinsulation.

Like here - the vent steam is 500C and it is ice outside. The door is completely sealed as there is nothing inside to repair.

or have two fluid locks (I use oil due to temperature range) separated by vacuum (which has zero heat transfer). It can work for both for sauna and freezing room if the temp above -50C.

or automated doors with vacuum created every time a dupe passes through.

it is 400C steam inside (started with 1500C, wolfram volcano) and -55C outside (and I plan to go below oxygen liquid point to clean it automatically sand-free.). Here it is a freezing room and sauna in one setting.

So whatever option you want

either a mod and a simple thermoinsulated door or some engineering schemes.

My understanding is that Klei does not want to introduce thermal doors and perfect airlock doors as there were many requests in the past for the doors but they were turned down. I have both mods though I am going sometimes without using these special modded doors.
