Gouflax
Hi everybody, I share with you my idea to "deep freeze" the food. It's compact, and use no electricity (expect for the pump that is here as a security, if the ice melt). I use the trick of stucking the food in the door to freeze it. The sequence : The food is picked up by the arm, and putted in a wainting room. The 3 first doors open and the food fall down. The 2 left doors close to push the food on the right. The middle door closes, and the food is now stuck and start freezing. After 100s (it can be less or more, I didn't work a lot on the timing), the 2 right doors open. The middle door closes and push the food on the right. Finally, the right door closes and push the food on the waiting square, ready to be eat. Bon appétit ! And the cold source ? I use the resources of the ice biome. I protect the ice on the rail with insulated tiles. I choose hydrogen to transfert the cold of the ice to the doors. A better solution is to use petroleum instead, but it's not accessible in early game.

Actually, it's possible with glossy dreckos (if we say they are part of the "early" game). I choosed the minipump for a smaller architecture, but the big pump is more easy to have, indeed. To have plastic from glossy dreckos before you have access to the oil biome I would classify as doubtful. However, there's an alternative that is far easier to make. Try marking food you drop in. Note how when the door close the freshness counter disappears? Closed doors hold the food in suspended animation where it never loses freshness no matter what the temperature is. And although corner grapping food by dupes is now forbidden, it's still possible for sweepers. So you can have a fridge with 1kg capacity. And store all other food trapped in a door. When the fridge says it's not full, or on a timer, the door opens and the sweeper tops up the fridge. Sure, the food loses freshness every time the door opens but that's literally seconds per cycle making deep freezing completely redundant in many cases. You can however combine it with a freezer that does deep freeze the food trapped in the door for unlimited shelf life if needed.

I play the same way. I start drekos on day 3, and get glossy pretty early. Oil biome is a giant hassle and I avoid it as much as possible. Ive only ever played the dlc but from what I understand in the base game you have to venture into oil biome, in dlc you can mostly ignore the entire thing. Occam Blazer
Neat concept. I have a couple improvements. Temperature control No plastic
