Suggestion: Plants with multiple mutations.

Recommended Posts

Plant mutations are a fun new mechanic that I think could be expanded upon.  I propose the ability to "cross pollinate" two adjacent plants of the same species bearing different mutations to, combining the traits of the two mutations.  The radiation required to cross pollinate two plants should be more (double?) that required to non-mutated plant.

So let's say we've got a Specialized Bristle Blossom (+25 rads per cycle, -50% temperature range, +50% yield) next to a Leafy Bristle Blossom (+25 rads per cycle, +1000 lux, -50% lifecycle, +25% fertilizer).  The cross-pollinated (I'm using this term for lack of a better one) would produce a Bristle Blossom that combines all of those traits (+50 rads per cycle, etc).

Such a mechanic would be require some work on our end to get the traits we want, but would reward us with highly-specialized plants.
