pether Posted March 1, 2021 Share Posted March 1, 2021 Random Idea: There should be a Sun Sail rocket module (engine?) that captures HEPs and uses them to accelerate the rocket. It could be charged with redirected HEPs on the asteroid or capture space radiation to produce them. This way, the rocket with Sun Sail could travel any distance since there would be constant fuel supply in the space. Not sure if this should act as engine or just an additional module that require another engine to launch from the asteroid... what do you think? I would expect after radiation is settled (and most bugs are fixed), HEP will have more uses than just research. If one of the uses was to accelerate rockets it would be great!
