PS4 Farming Setup - Help Required/Requested

Hi All,

I'm seeing all these different guides to the new farming system and its a little bit confusing. I know that half the fun is figuring out what crops can combo yourself but I'd really love some help so that once the content is released on PS4 I have a goal and farm set up I'm trying to achieve so I can mainly focus on Winters Feast content once I have my farm setup. I'd love one of those self sustaining farms that people keep coming up with so I only have to water them and provide music and don't have to worries about the nutrients. I've got a stupid number of Shell Bells ready to go and should have any other required resources in bulk ready to go including malbatross bills, I'll also zip down to the ruins to make the better gardening hat if it is that much better than the normal one.

Ideally I want to grow Garlic, Chili, Carrots and Corn. Garlic and Chili for spices and carrots and corn for cooking various meals with veggies including powdercake with the corn. Asparagus, Onion and Potatoes are also great and if they work better with other veggies/more seasons or whatever that would be fine. The veggies that are most desired are Chili, Garlic and Carrots, anything else is icing on top really. I'd honestly be happy with Chili, Garlic, Carrots and one other veggie. Plenty of spices and plenty of veggies for cooking this way.

Don't care about Pumpkins and I definitely don't want any eggplants!! I play Wigfrid and eggplant is a massive meat meal killer, I honestly hate it with a passion!

Dragonfruit while nice aren't important and pomegranates and durian are also undesired. However if Pomegranates are fairly easy to grow and compliment other veggies I want they might be nice, would be good to be getting fruit as well as veggies from farming for when I do swap characters from time to time, I say pomegranates cause I'm pretty sure I read that Dragonfruit only grow well in Summer which I won't be spending at my base.

I have a large space ready to put some farmland plots in and I believe I have room for up to a 2x2 plot. If there was a way to maybe make two 1x2 plots instead that function on their own but run different veggies for different seasons that would probably be ideal. The huge plots combined look a bit big to me and I'd prefer two smaller farms if at all possible. I'd also only like to farm throughout Winter, Autumn and Spring as I spend Summers either fishing for Crumpled Packages in the Oasis or clearing the ruins and expanding my caves base. Veggies that grow throughout multiple seasons and are fairly easy to look after would be ideal so that I can essentially keep the majority of the farm going the whole year round other than summer. I want good harvests but don't need anything too crazy (I don't need like 100 Veggies every 5 days which it looks like the new system can easily provide with bigger farm plots) as I predominantly play on my own anyway.

I know this is a rather big request but if someone is messing around with it anyway and feels like helping me out it would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance!

There are a few pretty good guides here on the forum already, detailing layouts and plant compatibility; i'm not sure what else you are asking for, I've got myself enough info and ideas from those:

I'm in the same position as you are, i'm also on ps4, waiting for winter feast to light up base and start doing some farming. I was thinking i might do some farm area around the oasis, since i spend most summer fishing for packages and waiting around. I only hope you can refill the watering can from the oasis pond

Yeah fair enough, I guess I just wanted to know what the optimal but simple farm set up for all seasons except Summer would be hopefully using the crops I listed in some combination and using my desired crop sizes. I'll use one of the guides (also it looked like they changed the entire nutrients system so some guides would be obsolete now yeah?) and try to figure out what I can combo together at some point soon so I'm ready when the update drops, might be worth farming specific seeds from my bird now so I have the appropriate seeds ready as well.

Ah nice, yeah I think i've dredged up like 22 or so chests and two krampus sacks worth of crumpled packages at this point... might have to start spending summer in the ruins again soon as those fishing summers do get a bit boring, then again farming might help keep things more interesting. Farming around the Oasis is a great idea though, surely you can use the oasis for watering cans and if not they'll surely change this. I mean it sort of is just a bigger version of a pond (minus the mechanics obviously).

Try my setup, i'm only farm in Spring and Autumn.

These crops have the same nutrients cycle, can replace each other if the season allow: Asparagus-Corn, Pumpkin-Carrot, Eggplant-Potato, Onion-Pomegranate, Dragon Fruit-Durian-Pepper.
