Boneshrimp
Gem N' Eye HP: 20,000 for Gem and 7,500 for Eye Loot: ??? Info: Gem N' Eye are two bosses in 1 that can be found in the caves in a new biome called crystal caves, You will first encounter Gem slumbering simply mining it once will spawn Eye, When either of them are defeated the other will enrage and get special attacks and duo attacks will be removed. It is best to defeat Eye first as it cant stray too far from Gem and act like a chained dog at furthest point from Gem making it easy to kite Eye attacks: Its main attack is a quick charge attack that deals 50 damage. It can also bounce and slam the ground dealing 75 damage and knocking players back. Gem's attacks: Gem is always still and wont move so it will use ranged attacks to support Eye, It can create 3 temporary walls to block your way or send an underground cluster of spiky crystals that will deal 75 AoE damage Duo attacks: Gem can pull eye back dealing 50 damage to whoever is attacking it, Gem can also cause Eye to rapidly spin around it which wont allow any one outside of the circle to enter or leave and deals 25 damage per second to whoever enters or leave. Eye can fire a focused beam to chase one player, The beam will heavily burn those who dont run away from it and deals 25 dps to them that increases by 10% per second. Enraged Eye attacks: Upon defeating Gem, I will become enraged and lose its duo attacks, Eye can now dig underground to chase one target, The target must run or else they will be chomped for 75 damage Enraged Gem attacks: Gem will now be able to move but slowly. Gem will get a new melee AoE attack that allows it to grab and stun players then throw them away dealing 75 damage. Lucenix
I've always thought that thematically speaking the eye should be the one with the ranged attacks (Terraria mostly... Kill it with lasers!) but it's cool to see a different take on that approach, making the crystal the immovable one and the eye the chasing dog (crystals in HK do shoot stuff so...). All in all the boss seems really cool... I just don't think the whirlwind attack would be really fun unless it was really well telegraphed... I understand it's there to make the players unable of just spam-attacking the immovable crystal but if it's undodgeable if would be a frustrating one. It's really cool to see a boss that makes the Weather Pain useful, but wouldn't it be too broken and easy that way? I don't know the numbers but it would melt, wouldn't it? I think the concept is good and the attacks look feasible but I don't think a giant eye and a giant crystal are DST-like bosses. Normally, giant chimeras of two normal beasts are the monsters of this world, as the powers that be usually make life out of existing life. That way, you could reskin it just to fit in with the theme, perhaps making a broken clockwork duo that served the ancient civilization and was buried for far too long... Something that fits the caves like toadstool. Bluepufferfish
I was thinking of gemini when I heard the name so I guess it could be a couple of puns in one. It certainly sounds interesting but I want to hear about the crystal cave biome before hearing about a potential boss. Mike23Ua
sigh... But I don’t really want this game to be focused on boss fight, after boss fight, after boss fight, after boss fight, that’s all it feels like it’s becoming now... and it sucks. I have the Hamlet DLC now (released just the other day on Xbox) and that DLC proves that there’s a bunch of different ways to amp up DST’s difficulty without relying on Mega Bosses. Trees that occasionally spawn snake or Scorpion. Piko squirrel that eats the seeds you would’ve picked up to plant a new tree after chopping it down. tall grass not being pluckable by hand and instead requiring a machete to hack first. Poison bleed out damage. Toxicated Biomes that require protection to traverse through.. The TL:DR- Hamlet proves that DST could use some fresh new content added to it. And don’t get me wrong I don’t mind a boss fight, provided that those bosses don’t take center stage and feel like the ONLY content Klei focuses on Anymore..
