Door Permissions keeps on getting reset on game load

Recommended Posts

Every time I load my game, door permissions for doors with specific dupe rules keeps on getting reset. This is a problem I noticed for a very long time. I thought it was common and hoped someone else would have reported it but nope, there seems to be not any discussion about it.

Did you experience this problem too? What are the possible solutions? I'm at the point in my colony where door permissions are very very important.

P.S. I already submitted a bug report. I am also playing an old save. I can't remember if it's pre-release.

I've never encountered this problem, so I can't really offer advice.  However, I wonder if your map is very old, if the doors were built before permissions were added.  I can't remember at what point they went in, but prior to that point you could open/auto/or lock a door, and that was it.

Hi. Try a new game. Activate sandbox and make a door and see if it works as intended after save/load. If it does you know.

Tired it. The problem did not appear. Though it is possible that it only happens on large colonies.

Delete that door and built a new one. Set door permission. Save/load and check whether it saves the latest setting or not.

Did this on my current save. The problem still happens. I should note that the problem I am experiencing is the actual settings not being the same as the UI (the UI shows dupe is not allowed but they can pass through or dupes allowed but they can't pass)

My map is a bit old but not that old. I think I started it around September. I think it was one patch before release or it was during release.

I attached my save file in case someone wants to take a look. I have doors at the upper part of the base that have dupe-specific permissions and that's where the problems happens after loading the game.

Here is my bug report post. I have screenshots there that might explain the problem better.

Thanks!

I figured out what's going on.  Here's a door with default access on my game:

Here's the door with custom "default" access:

And here's a door where Otto has special access:

Unless a dupe has been given custom access, the specific dupe shows no arrows, regardless of the access permissions on the door.  If a dupe's access differs from "Default," then their name is highlighted and their specific permissions are shown.

I tried loading your save, @DeuteriumCore, and it took a while.  Almost 1800 cycles! Nice!  Anyway, your doors appear to be functioning correctly.  You have 39 dupes, so you have to scroll to see the dupes with special access on doors.  However, all permissions appeared to be functioning the way they were set.

On a side note, do you see that little grey line between the duplicant access permissions and the duplicants?  Its new, and recent. I only noticed it today while I was trying to solve your problem.  If you click the little triangle, then it sorts by that category.  Strangely, clicking on "Duplicant" sorts in reverse alphabetical order.  Clicking on "permission" sorts most permissive to least.  "Role" doesn't appear to do anything on my save.

I've been having this issue as well.

Despite the default access setting set to disallow both directions, default access dupes ignore this and continue as if they have access in both directions. I can fix it temporarily by manually updating the default door permissions (change to allow then disallow), but the issue reoccurs whenever I reload the save. So perhaps the game is saving the door permissions for "default access" dupes incorrectly?

I've made a bug report about this earlier

@KittenIsAGeek Thank you for looking into it! But I'm afraid it's not what's causing the issue (or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you said). Though, it gives me an idea for a temporary fix. I still have to try it out.

I made a video showing what is happening:

By the way, did you look at the pneumatic door near my solar farm? If you did, then this problem is probably system specific as I feared.

@mistrbushido, good to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. May I ask, when did you start that game?

I started this one in January. I think the issue is that the game saves each dupe's default access for any door as <- -> regardless of what you have set the default access setting for that door. So even if your default setting is set to -> only, dupes with default access (not custom access) will always load in as <- ->. The reliable solution is to not mess with the default access setting and assign each dupe a custom access setting:

compare this to my previous post.

So keeping default access set to allow access in both directions should fix this issue, but it's a pain to have to assign custom settings for each dupe.
