DTU / Rocket Launch?

The 3x9 area below the rocket?

Steam ~155  MDTU
Petroleum ~ 550 - 625 MDTU
H2 ~ 740 - 825 MDTU

Lower end of those numbers are Launches, upper end are returning Rockets.
Testing was done in QOL3 or LU iirc.
All Rockets' maximum heating temperature is 3200 K.

 

If you are talking about the exhaust, that's highly dependent on the distance between launch pad and map border.

I saw a video on youtube last week by that John what's-his-name?  He launched a hydrogen rocket from a tunnel going down to the bottom of the map and let it heat the steam and CO2 all the way up.  It was fully powering like a dozen steam turbines.

I just have 3 steam turbines that aren't running very hard to mop up the heat collected by petrol from under my two rockets, plus cool down the LOX.

I think this is a little low.  If I did my math correctly, the 740 kg per tile of petrol I have in the 3x9 under my rocket should only be heated by 17 degrees, but iirc, it goes up by about 30 degrees.

That's the number the game tells you (well, the difference before and after the rocket start/landing). Game might be lying...
Steam is also the game's numbers. I only did a thorough test on h2.
Here's the energy distribution in the 3x9 block below the rocket for h2:

One more thing: Rocket composition (including solid fuel thrusters) and travel distance had no influence.

Yep- understand that vacuum doesn’t transfer or hold heat. Was curious whether the rocket put out a fixed number of DTUs that we’re then distributed amongst the tiles, so that ‘missing’ tiles meant more heat elsewhere. It’s seems not from what I’m hearing.

There might not even be a game... this all might just be in your imagination...

I also have no idea how to interpret the block of percentages you posted.

Are you sure?  Someone was claiming earlier in another thread that they get more heat by putting 5 unfueled boosters on the rocket.

Maybe the actual numbers in DTU are easier to understand:

Might have been only one booster in the test and the result's deviation was less or similar to that of a rocket started multiple times from the exact same save file. 

Edit:

Still had the test map, did a retest, 5 sfb with or without fuel, it makes no difference.

Ahh, interesting.. I didn't know it tended to be more in the center than the sides.  It is important to note however, that the heat isn't limited to this 3x9: it puts out heat the whole way up and the 3x9 just moves higher.  That's why the lower levels below the launch point get less heat.  The booster may not add heat below the rocket, but still may add it to the gas in the path on the way up.  Try launching the rocket in a long launch tube with doors at the top to try and keep the gas in, and keep the area filled with gas.
