f0stalicska
I have been searching the forum for a reliable Dupe time (apart from grooming) free Puft ranch and failed to find one, so I over complicated it and then here I am happy to share. The idea is based on @ChickenMadness older topic. Where he fills the ranch to capacity minus 1 with useful Pufts then as the last one adds the Prince. I liked this idea more than having separate breeding areas for god knows why. Sadly the same premise here doesn't work anymore as it was based on the fact that the princes will starve very fast, so overtime we'll have very few of them in the stable. Now that they can eat whatever they just take up useful resources. So the basic idea is that once we detect that we have less critters than desired, we make sure there's no prince in the room, measure again to determine if the missing one was prince or useful replenish accordingly and move on. Enter the Prince's tower idea that's also kind of fits stylistically. This is one stable so that the useful Pufts still detect they are penned with a Prince, but the prince is completely isolated, so you don't even have to feed it and your dupes don't waste time grooming it. The automation is not even close to be optimized I mostly wanted to test the idea of using water to force the critter movement and combined with that making the subsequent critter number measure work. Full disclosure I haven't tested this over any longer time period and you might still need a separate are to make sure you have enough Prince eggs, also the egg sorting and resource extraction is omitted, but at least I made sure that the sweepers can reach into the hatchery/drownery. SamLogan
Funny I'm also working on a fully automate Puft ranching, here's my setup : Personnaly, I detect the Prince's death with it meat by storing it temporaly in a fridge that given me an automation signal. I'm also use two virtual room that count 96 tiles in total. The central waterlock allow that and avoid the Puft to change room as well I can identifiy the meat. On the incubation Prince's room, I let the door cloosed until until I have at leat 2 eggs/creature in it and close the door when I have less of 2. I also detect when a normal Puft die with it meat. f0stalicska
Using meat is a really good idea, but unfortunately I have an unreasonable phobia against powered fridges, but I guess you can replace it with pressure plate Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/114800-rough-concept-for-automated-puft-farming/#findComment-1296762 Share on other sites
