Clockwork bug in adventure mode?

Hi altogether!

I wanted to use the free days to take on adventure mode.

Took me a few (or a few more) tries but yesterday I made it to "Darkness".

Everything went well so far.

There is no food but mushrooms (and meat (spiders, pigs, tallbirds,..) but I knew that his could happen and came prepared.

I did good but then I ran into a clockwork nightmare. I turned on godmode to make a screenshot but I wanted to beat the adventure mode without cheat codes.

I love Don't Starve, because it can be challenging but no matter if I played vanilla, RoG, Shippwrecked or Hamlet: The game was never unfair, never frustrating. Every time I died, I knew why and what I had to do better next time. 

Even the poisoning in the shipwrecked beta didn't seem unfair to me.

I confess thus I played a lot by now, I am not the best gamer and never will be.

But I consider myself not completely dumb

The "clockwork nightmare setpiece" I have now to face in "Darkness" doesn't feel like "Don't starve" because I can't imagine a way to go through it alive.

I tried it various times (I "respawned" the touch stone).

Even with a torch to wear Football helmet and amor I didn't make it far.

If it is a bug, I would go through with godmode and play "fair" after I passed it, if that is meant to be, I have to start adventure mode another time, because I won't make it through this without cheating, the knights and rooks, I could manage, but running through them changing torch and divining rod, avoidin knights, rooks AND the bishops, that's beyond my "pay grade". WAY beyond. Until know I thought I was a good player...

So I hope that anyone can tell me if THAT ( I try and post screenshots) is meant to be.

Hello! After a bit of research, what you encountered is one of the Clockwork Biomes that can appear in adventure mode. I have encountered one of these myself. My advice would be to equip a log suit, miner hat, walking cane, and run as fast as you can through them, as it's pretty much impossible to defeat them all in a reasonable amount of time. Hope this helps!

 

Edit: I went into god mode using console commands a while ago just to see how long it would take to defeat all of them, and I was fighting for over 15 in-game days straight. Just holding the attack key and doing nothing else. Do NOT fight them.

Dont worry, I finally cracked the code, i might be a couple of years late, but considering this hellscape of a setpiece still appears in solo dont starve (happened to me 3 times in a row), I think it's fair to say that its bound to remain a possibility.  However it is possible to cross without any glitches, but i will admit it does feel a bit like cheating... So I play on ps4 with shipwreaked and rog dlc so what I did was run in like a mad lad, and when clockworks are about to attack, save/quit and when you come back in their aggro is off for a couple of seconds. Rinse and repeat until you cross. Its tedious, a cheap trick, whatever, but it might save an adventure run.
