any tips for a noobie to the game?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I have a few basic tips to offer. Firstly, be prepared to die a lot. This is learning by trial and error sort of game and most of the time, errors will lead to death. Secondly, always be careful when facing new enemies. Each one has an attack pattern you can learn to kite(attacking the enemy, then dodging their attack before they can hit you.), but it will take some time to learn all of the patterns if you do not want to spoil yourself with a guide. Finally, always be gathering materials. You can NEVER have too many materials. Hope this helps!

Try to explore the map as much as you can before you set up a camp. By exploring the map you'll be able to find many useful things like beefalo herds, swamp or pig village.

You can get charcoal by burning trees down. Be careful to not cause a forest fire though. Charcoal can be used to craft crock pot and drying racks. Crockpot turns food into better food and drying racks allow you to turn meat into jerky which is great if you're having troubles keeping your sanity high

Caves may seem scary at first but if you explore them a little bit you'll find plants that give you lightbulbs. Lightbulbs can be used to craft and refuel lantern- a better torch.

You can turn pigs into werepigs if you have 4 monster meat(kill spiders for easy monster meat) for 2 meat and one pig skin which is enough for a hambat also if you have 40 petals or 40 lightbulbs drop them in front of a werepig you will get poop very easily since they focus on the food first then comes after you

two things about thermal stones:
-they only effect you when in your pockets, not when in your backpack.
-if you leave a thermal stone in your pocket too long and you're wearing other insulated gear then it'll start cooling you down. put it in your backpack!
