I need to get rid of a lot of steam in not a lot of time

Recommended Posts

When I first breached the oil biome in my current save, I expected it to go much as it had in the past. Instead I was instantly overwhelmed with far greater temperatures than I had expected. There was a gap in the layer of Abyssalite which otherwise separated the oil biome from the magma at the asteroid’s core. Lead was melting, oil was turning to petroleum on its own accord... and the ice biome I had dug in from was melting. And then before long it was vaporizing, and now I have to deal with enough steam to reach 450 kg/tile in some places, but which isn’t hot enough to run a steam turbine. Is there any fast way to get rid of it?

Had same thing happen to me.

Suggest digging further into the oil biome searching for heat. Then the steam will be hot enough to run turbines. I ran 2 turbines for about 400 cycles, 1 of the 2 was putting out constant 850 watts. Down to 1 turbine putting out about 250 watt at the moment.

Conceal don't feel! Use insulated tiles as a buffer for your main base, then put as many steam turbines as you want to get it all down to 95 degree water. Steam turbines are free pumps essentially.

I ended up going with a combination of a few of these. I put a ceramic divider in, allowing half of the steam to heat up and run a turbine while half of it cooled down. I helped it along its way by dumping some water from my main base there as well. It’s still a problem, but by the looks of it it’ll solve itself in time
