Big issue with maps without Slime Biome

Yeah because there's no reason to ***** and whine when features of the game aren't available. Let's not forget that they had to buff Pufts AFTER the fact because clearly they hadn't considered the implications of removing gold from the map. I wonder if they'd have buffed them if nobody complained...

Problem is sometimes people seem to forget they're playing pre-release, and should expect a pre-release level of derp - with a follow up period of reaction and refinement.

Of course people should point these issues out - but it's the way they're pointed out that's often pathetic.

After reading through all of your opinions i think i have realised why i have a problem with maps that make metal hard to obtain. Normally in ONI the most vital systems that you must manage at all times are food, oxygen and heat, now sure these can all interact in a few ways here or there but in general they are seperate, the issue is having no gold just means you have to rush steel early and it is only possible to obtain it at a slow rate. What this does is it limits the players access to many parts of the game, it makes it very tricky to get oil early and start playing with plastics which encompass a huge segment of the game. Additionally it makes it harder to handle hot geysers and harder to setup a base on the surface aswell.

In summary I feel limitting some metals to this much of an extreme degree, so no gold at all, just ends up forcing the player to wait while their base produces metal slowly, this might be a fully sustainable base, well fed, powered and oxygenated, but with the player just sitting on their arse waiting for some pokeshells to lay eggs, its just tedious, I am not sure if I will be playing a gold-less map again unless minor changes are made.

As an example of a fix the devs could make it so metals not in your world have a slightly higher chance of appearing in the printing pod, or potentially maybe you can find a tiny amount of each metal on the surfact biome, or just something minor like that.

Just by the way I absolutely love this game and I love Klei to bits in everyway, I am in no way angry or frustrated these are merely my opinions.

The fossil from the oil biome (on both maps) and the fossil from the tide pool biome (arboria) should more than cover your needs outside of any major space projects. Going big on ranching, harvesting space - Steel from Sattelites & replacing steel w/ Niobium/Thermium where possible - will help with that.

Absolute not! Please stop reading only the initial problem, the real problem is the lack of gold in the making of Super Coolant.
