Darkin Coaled
I am sincerely hoping it's not too early to talk about this but I really want to drop my thoughts here in a game mechanics style post. Hold on to your pants everyone. So, during the multiple partial changes to the water sieve building there was one which had a bug in it. It would use the stored mass of sand instead of the consumed mass of sand in the temperature calculations. I am not entirely sure that it was a bug to use the stored mass but instead to communicate to the player that it should be the consumed mass. What the game was saying: "I will drop a bit of sand and some dirty water into this here shaker, mix them together for a second and pour you a drink of clean water with all the pollution separated out of it In an orderly, fragrant pile." "Oh, what happens to the sand..?" *looks to the side.. looks over your shoulder at the back wall.. shrugs* What the game should have said instead: "You load up a ton and a bit of sand into my three massive jugs and I will take some dirty water every second, slosh it around a bit and pour you a drink of nice clean water. After a while all that sand will become a large smelly heap of pollution which I will just dump in your lap." The change I am proposing works as follows: Sieve uses stored, fixed amount of filtration medium. Sieve has one of those green->yellow->red colored progress bars to indicate how much more water it can filter before dropping a slightly larger amount of polluted dirt. Heat transfer is then stored mass vs. small amount of water. This automatically introduces a secondary function of the sieve. You just need to find cooler/hotter sand. You need to make sure what temperature sand goes in. You get exploding pipes if you load up surface regolith. You get frozen pipes if you find a sand splat in an ice biome. And so forth. So there, I said it. If you still have feelings about this issue I would appreciate if you simply downvoted me without too many words. LordHalo
I feel the same! it could be nice to throw sand into the Ice Biome and use that to cool down my water allowing it to be an average of the two materials. Also as time progresses any heat that was removed from this process adds to the sand leaving behind a hot pile of dirt an average of the removed heat. Giving you another problem to deal with... how to remove hot dirt XD. We have no way of making dupes use specific temperature of input sand, so this would be annoying and bad.
