Consoles tend to be GPU heavy and be suited for GPU heavy games while they are less powerful when it comes to the CPU. The xbox spread the CPU workload on 8 CPU cores, but none of them have impressive stats when viewed alone. ONI have problems spreading the workload on multiple CPU cores and prefers great per core performance rather than performance from number of cores. Long story short: I don't think you will get a playable framerate on any console. However I don't think there is any official announcement for anything related to ONI on Stadia. On the other hand they likely didn't announce it won't happen either. It's also worth mentioning that the Stadia thread is also full of people talking about how Stadia is a flawed concept for non-technical reasons. It places the player in an even worse position than with Steam in case the people at Stadia decides you shouldn't be allowed to play anymore. That may be the case, but I don't think its as big an issue as steam. With Stadia, you don't actually purchase games, you pay monthly for the service for access to a library instead. I would be different if I paid for specifically access to one game, then could no longer access it in the future. It would be like subscribing to Netflix, then feeling like they stole from you if they remove a movie from their library. The issue is what happens if games start to be released on Stadia only? It used to be like you bought a game on disks (CD/DVD or floppy) and then you could play offline. Maybe they won't, but they are free to do so, meaning it's one step further towards no consumer rights. There is already the issue of Steam not supporting Windows XP, which leaves the question: what about XP only games? At least Steam can be forced to work offline and still work when something like that happens (and you should keep XP offline). You can't opt out of any Stadia updates. That is a good point, I had never considered that. I can totally understand why some people would be worried about that. I'm willing to guess that the average 'gamer' would be less affected by this, as their biggest concern is jumping from newest hit to newest hit. I would hate for a game I love to get taken away like that, but at the same time (i'm gonna sound crazy here) as a performance artist myself, I find the idea of a game (an artwork in my eyes) with transience to be really beautiful. I tend to apprentice things a lot more when I know or suspect that it will not last forever.
